Hotel: The Latest Architecture and News

Wendell Burnette Architects has released images of their design for Saudi Arabia’s 1st UNESCO World Heritage Site, the MADA’IN SALEH or HEGRA south of Petra; which has recently been approved by The Saudi Commission for Tourism & National Heritage.

Stefano Boeri Architetti has unveiled plans for the Guizhou Mountain Forest Hotel, a 31,200 square meter (336,000 square foot) resort hotel located in the 10 Thousand Peaks Area of the province of Guizhou, China. Nestled in the Wanfeng Valley, the hotel design draws from the region’s dramatic landscape, recently named one of the New York Times’ top destinations of 2016.

Zaha Hadid Architects have released plans for a 70,000 square meter (750,000 square foot) hotel and residential tower in the Marina District of Lusail City, Qatar. The design is the first of two ZHA projects commissioned by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Thani for Lusail City’s integrated community master plan, which when complete will become Qatar’s first and largest sustainable city, providing entertainment, employment and accommodation for up to 450,000 residents and visitors.

London-based firm Carmody Groarke has been selected to design a standalone hotel suite on Burgh Island, a tidal island on the South Devon coast. Commissioned by Burgh Island Ltd, the owners of the site's eponymous Grade-II listed art deco hotel, the new standalone "Pool House" suite sits atop the island's cliffs offering customers generous views of the Bantham Estuary and the hotel’s Mermaid Pool, an outdoor seawater pool and private beach for hotel guests.

A winner of the Millennium Yacht Design Awards, Salt & Water's concept for a Floating Hotel aims to introduce tourism onto inland waters without disrupting the natural harmony of its surroundings. Their design consists of two parts: a central floating body and separate catamaran apartment units.

Images of Zaha Hadid’s first project in Brazil – and in South America -- have been revealed. The “Casa Atlântica” residential tower will have eleven floors and a rooftop pool and be built in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, according to local paper O Globo.

Located on Atlântica Avenue, “Casa Atlântica” will be the only building on its lot, yet seeks to complement the surrounding environment and neighborhood. 

The project was commissioned by businessman, Omar Peres, who acquired the land for R$ 23 million ($8.5 million).
