The Guadalajara region in Mexico is home to one of the country's most prominent cities, ranking as one of the most populous urban areas alongside Mexico City, Tijuana, the State of Mexico, and Monterrey. However, the exponential growth experienced by cities in the 20th century resulted in an urban sprawl that expanded far beyond traditional geographic boundaries. The capital of the state of Jalisco was no exception, ultimately leading to the definition of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, which integrates the key municipalities surrounding the capital.

After several editions focused on international themes, this year Madrid will take center stage as the host of the 16th Architecture Week, taking place from September 30 to October 7. The event is organized by the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM) through the COAM Architecture Foundation.

The Arquitectura magazine has been a benchmark for debate, thought, and the profession of architects and urban planners, capturing the best of Madrid and Spanish architecture while also gaining international recognition in the publishing landscape. It was initially published by the Central Society of Architects, and following the creation of the Architects' Associations in 1929, the COAM began editing it in 1932, maintaining ownership throughout.

Sometimes, architecture presents itself as an object of responsibility—an exercise in recognizing authorship, aiming to define and delimit it. We feel an urgent need to know who its author was, to credit whoever was capable of such inventions. Just as often, however, architecture does not claim any author; hence the terms anonymous architecture or "architecture without architects"—that is, a merely vernacular architecture. In the case of Carme Pinós, what is built inevitably speaks of who built it. Her architecture offers a glimpse of the energy that emanates from her persona: a vibrant, direct, tense architecture, swept by a continuous, dominating agitation. Within it, elements are in constant motion in a completely ungrounded way, rather than by their own virtue.
