Edmonton’s Infill Design Competition is an opportunity to encourage productive conversations about infill and help the public and development community understand what’s possible for infill design. The competition should demonstrate that infill can augment, rather than detract from the character of our established neighbourhoods. The City of Edmonton is excited to promote and celebrate innovation, context sensitive design, and advance the design ethic for infill development in Edmonton.
The Lighting Architecture Movement Project, aka "LAMP," is an international juried design challenge open to all ages and creative backgrounds. The theme for the fourth annual competition is “Cosmic” – the best representations of which will be featured in a special exhibition in Vancouver, launching in November.

The Korean artists, MOON Kyungwon & JEON Joonho have teamed up with the design collective, Urban-Think Tank, based at ETH Zürich, to launch the newest version of the ongoing project, “News from Nowhere.” Past versions have appeared in documenta (13) in Kassel and the Sullivan Galleries of the School of the Art Institute in Chicago in 2013. The “News from Nowhere: Zürich Laboratory” establishes an interdisciplinary and participatory platform to discuss the urgent social, political and economic issues.
Most of the projects on display are selected from S+ ARCHITECTURE’s work within the past ten years and include a wide array of building types such as academic, adaptive reuse, cultural, educational, industrial, mixed use, office, residential, retail-recreation and urban project. The overall goal of architectural office is to establish the harmony between the context and the projects. The design approach of the group emphasizes design integrity from urban to object scale and aims sustainable environments.
Alternative energy also known as renewable energy is an energy source that can not be destroyed from human use, it is an energy harnessed. Renewable energy is considered to be one of the pivotal ‘wedges’ that can combat global warming and stabilize the climate, through the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions.
The world has a critical necessity to search for alternative and renewable energy and the importance of its technologies have been growing significantly. For several important reasons, this is extremely important for the future of our society.

Affiliated with this year’s Chicago Architecture Biennial, the Chicago Architectural Club has announced the 2015 Burnham Prize Competition: Currencies of Architecture. This year’s Burnham Prize was inspired by the Chicago Architecture Biennial’s title, “The State of the Art of Architecture,” and explores the question: what is the state of the art of architecture today? Entrants are challenged to create a single image that exemplifies a point of view on the current state of architecture – whether it is a celebration, a challenge, a statement or anything else.
The 9th International Festival of Architecture and Urbanism Architecture Week Prague 2015 will take place in the Convent of St. George at the Prague Castle and other locations in Prague from August 17 to October 18, 2015. It is organized by the company Czech Architecture Week in cooperation with the Prague Castle Administration. The festival will again be held under the patronage of the Czech President, Mr. Miloš Zeman.
On Monday, August 24, the Harvard Graduate School of Design opened its main Fall 2015 exhibition Living Anatomy: An Exhibition About Housing. Focusing on the past 50 years, the mixed-media exhibition features both built and academic work and showcases innovative approaches and solutions to housing in contexts around the world.
The AIA|DC Emerging Architects Committee (AIA|DC EAC) is excited to announce our presenters for the second-annual Thesis Showcase. “We explore how digital media is changing the way we create built forms,” says the show curator, Lewis Blackwell, executive director of strategy at The Building Centre.
The most popular exhibit looks likely to be the virtual rollercoaster developed at the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis at the Bartlett School of Architecture. Viewed on an Oculus Rift headset, it simulates a rollercoaster journey around the skyscrapers of a fantasy city.

Exhibition Paul Schneider von Esleben – The Legacy of Postwar Modernism M:AI exhibitions and events to mark the 100th anniversary of the architect’s birthday. For this exhibition, Thomas Mayer photographed 5 of Paul Schneider von Esleben’s projects in Dusseldorf.
On 23 August, 2015 Paul Schneider von Esleben would have turned 100. With his projects he emphatically shaped the post-War architecture of West Germany until well into the 1970s. In North Rhine-Westphalia in particular he left behind a series of buildings that reflect the developments in architectural history in the first 20 years after the war. Von Esleben viewed buildings as gesamtkunstwerke, which he designed down to the last detail, be it art on the buildings or the furnishings inside.
Unique in the world, Berlin's new Museum for Architectural Drawing, designed by architects Sergei Tchoban and Sergey Kuznetsov, brings some of the finest 20th and 21st century architectural drawings together in a building provocatively tattooed with its own drawings.
