Amsterdam has been one of Europe's pioneers of architecture and design, largely because of the 17th century rings of canal houses, gabled facades, windmills and drawbridges. Modern architecture developed organically in Amsterdam between the facades of historical buildings, making it one of the finest blends between Renaissance, Berlage and the Amsterdam School. The city has a very strong cultural and artistic identity. Amsterdam is the most important cultural and artistic center to the north from Paris and between London and Cologne.

The issue of diasporas, observed in the displacement of populations across the globe, is a pressing topic. Everyone is in search of a dream: the city as a welcoming shelter for those whom life's adversities have expelled from their lands. To conceive of this CITY that people can call home, in times of diaspora, we need UTOPIA. The city that does not yet exist is a possible city, or even more: it is the construction of an ideal of urban experiences grounded in hospitality and solidarity.

2019 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Bauhaus, the German school that revolutionized education and production in architecture and design.

Blank Space is thrilled to announce the inaugural Outer Space competition in partnership with ArchDaily, Archinect, and Bustler. The winners will be selected by a jury that includes astronaut Chris Hadfield, David Benjamin, Studio Drift and Chris Precht.

The purpose of this competition is to challenge Architects and Students to design a replacement for the Townsite Homes in Henderson, NV, which have outlived their intended use and have mostly fallen into disrepair, creating neighborhood blight. The project should fully embody the principles of sustainable design and livable communities. It is the responsibility of the entrants to determine the number of new dwellings on the site, or re-purpose the existing home. For more than 20 years, The Arhitext Design Foundation has been developing editorial and cultural projects that raise awareness of the national and international state of architecture, urbanism, design and visual arts. The most important projects of the Foundation are the Arhitext Magazine and the Bucharest Triennale, dedicated to the Central and Eastern European region. In October 2019, the Foundation, in partnership with the Romanian Order of Architects and the "Ion Mincu" University of Architecture and Urbanism will organize the third edition of the Bucharest Triennale East Centric Architecture. This fascination is visible right from humankind's illustrations in the caves from thousands of years ago to our latest works in literature, astronomy, astrology, architecture and many other fields of studies.
Our love for moon and race to explore new horizons, we have created history in the mid 20th century, with the first steps of mankind on the lunar surface. This drive and fascination for the moon have led us to believe that it could be the next destination for humans.
