The inadequate provision of open spaces in urban areas is one of the most recurrent challenges for the Hong Kong government. High-quality open public spaces can significantly increase a city’s attractiveness by encouraging business investment and improving living conditions.

QUAD 2017 is seeking design proposals that capture the essence of social sustainability by addressing the various factors contributing to the three pillars of sustainability: Environment, Economy and Equity.

Entries are open for architects, designers and manufacturers to submit projects for this year's ICONIC AWARDS, organized by the German Design Council.

The Iconic Awards honor superb examples of the interaction of all disciplines in an independent architecture and design competition which focuses on internationally outstanding construction projects, innovative interior and product design as well as compelling communication in an architectural context.

Hong Kong is one of the most expensive and densely populated cities on Earth. With over 7 million people living on an island just 1,102 square km in size, where the population is constantly struggling for space. Like other major cities around the world, Hong Kong is in the midst of an affordable housing crisis. The strict limitations on space mean that there is a capped supply of housing on the island. A limited supply, paired with an ever-growing demand, has caused Hong Kong housing prices to skyrocket.

Seoul Metropolitan Government is in process of planning on “Seoul Yeoui-Naru Ferry Terminal”And for this, “Seoul Yeoui-Naru Ferry Terminal Design Competition” will be held and announced on February 9. Total prize amount will be approximately 1,045,000,000 KRW, and the winner will be granted a right to sign the design contract.

The Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA) has organized “Architect’1986” exhibition to promote professionalism in architecture since 1986 (except for 1990) until today or 30 times, with around 350,000 visitors annually. It is these currencies, which give architecture its agency, its authority and life. And yet, despite the varied modes of its circulation, the majority of architecture’s discursive knowledge reaches only a familiar audience. While contemporary means of information production and dispersal continue to exponentially grow and quicken, the circle of professional and discursive associations remains confined. Circulation, distribution, and access to knowledge are not exclusive matters of the discipline. Rather they extend past architectural limits to catalyze inquiries into hidden geographies and infrastructure, restricted access, and equity.

Advances in Architecture and Civil Engineering are the order of the day with the rapid industrialization and urbanization seen in developed and developing nations. Innovative design and construction practices are challenging tasks to the architects and engineers to meet the ever growing demands of society. The Stone Barn Meditation Camp architecture competition is a partnership with SRED property developers to create a multipurpose recreational space. Participants are tasked with presenting ideas for a venue, which focuses on wellness tourism and offers holistic outlets such as meditation and yoga.

Warsaw has just announced a competition to prepare an architectural conceptual design of a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists, which will connect both shores of the Vistula by the Karowa street.

“This will be our showcase and first passage of the kind for pedestrians and cyclists over the Vistula. Over the last years, we have done a lot to bring it closer to the locals – we have built lanes and boulevards, beaches and cafés. A new bridge, in accordance with the Warsaw Mobility Policy, will substantially improve the quality of life for cyclists and pedestrians,” says Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz, Mayor of the City of Warsaw.

Works of India is an archive of drawings, sketches, artefacts, models, tools and pictures collected and made during two and a half years of life and work. The collection arises as necessity to document the relation between human, natural and built landscape to portray a frame for a way of life in India.

The selected material articulates in six environments which reflects upon the relation between man and nature, god and matter, a certain sacrality which is embedded during the act of creation and a sort of deep rooted understanding in the way of making and building.
