Published by DosTercios Editorial, ‘#XFORMAS: Conversaciones y reflexiones periféricas sobre arquitectura’ is the first double book by Chilean architects Nicolás Valencia, Fabiola González, and Yair Estay, co-founders of X Formas de Hacer Arquitectura (#XFORMAS).

“#MOBILIS, a shifting narrative” is a project designed by Universidad Finis Terrae School of Architecture faculty members Macarena Urzúa and Rodrigo Santa María (Siglo22arquitectos), consisting of a temporary intervention built from the accounts of 40 Chilean voices. The project was presented in April at the Young Architects Festival (YAF Constructo) held at the Ruinas de Huanchaca (Antofagasta) and at Puerto de Ideas.

Join us for the lecture: Alberto Cruz, Work and Archive. The talk will be presented by Sara Browne Cruz, historian, holder of a master's degree in history and cultural heritage management, and current executive director of the Alberto Cruz Covarrubias Foundation.

Through her firm, Base Studio, architect Bárbara Barreda develops a methodology for architectural design rooted in systemic thinking and unconventional geometric, material, and spatial formulations. By combining the potential of digital design with local, artisanal construction processes, she generates versatile and adaptable architectural systems.

Since 2016, the School of Architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae has hosted "Atraviesos Urbanos" (Urban Traversals), a series of thematic tours through various sectors of the capital. Led by an architecture professor who discusses the history and heritage value of each site to an audience of students, faculty, and the general public, these tours aim to highlight routes of cultural, urban, and historical interest throughout Santiago.

The Pacífico, Huérfanos, and España galleries are among the more than fifteen that will make up the "Foundational Center Gallery System" tour, led by architect and Universidad Finis Terrae School of Architecture professor Víctor Villalobos. This event is open to the public and will take place on Monday, April 18, at 3:00 PM. The meeting point will be the rear entrance of the National Library (Moneda Street).

This activity is part of the Atravieso Urbano (Urban Traverse) series, organized by the same institution, which includes four walking tours through different sectors of the capital during the first semester of 2022. Each tour is led by an architect and architecture professor who discusses the history and heritage value of each location.

The "Local Heritage Management" diploma program at the Universidad Finis Terrae Faculty of Architecture and Design, in collaboration with the Training Academy and the Undersecretariat for Regional and Administrative Development (Subdere), is hosting the online conference "Management and Development of Local Heritage." The lecture will be presented by Ecuadorian architect Jacobo Herdoiza on Wednesday, June 22, at 11:00 a.m.

The urban scope of the territorial and cultural confrontations between the United States and the Soviet Union extends beyond the well-known post-war reconstructions of Europe, reaching across countries in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Through plans, maps, and microhistories, the exhibition explores the role of architecture and urban design in the more than 500 projects—led by Robert McNamara—that the World Bank financed between 1972 and 1985 in 136 cities of what was then known as the "Third World." This war on poverty sought to halt the advance of communism and expand the geopolitical frontiers of the First World into developing countries, this time through an economic growth agenda that instrumentalized urban housing.

On Thursday, August 18, at 12:30 p.m., a keynote lecture and discussion will be held featuring the recently elected 2022 National Architecture Prize winner, Fernando Pérez Oyarzún.

On December 14, 2022, at 3:00 PM (Chile time), the film Feos, sucios & malos. Una arquitectura contemporánea en Latinoamérica will premiere in Santiago, Chile, at HUB Providencia (José Manuel Infante 1415, Providencia).

The exhibition by architect and academic Rubén Muñoz, titled "Light, Form, Act, and Symbol," presents a series of models alongside a catalog featuring three built works and three recent projects from his architectural practice. The exhibition seeks to enrich professional practice with reflections from the doctoral thesis that gives the exhibition its name.

Since 2016, the Universidad Finis Terrae School of Architecture has hosted Atraviesos Urbanos (Urban Traversals), a series of thematic tours through various sectors of the capital where an architect from the institution discusses the cultural, urban, and historical value of a neighborhood. For this new edition, the school has joined forces with Nuestro Centro, a neighborhood association dedicated to the revitalization of five neighborhoods: Bellas Artes, Bustamante, Lastarria, Plaza Italia, and Bellavista.

A conversation between architect Guillermo Acuña and master stonemason and historian Rolando Abarca will be part of a new session of "Diálogos Aislados" (Isolated Dialogues), a series organized by the School of Architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae. The series began during the pandemic to foster discussion on various topics, debates, and new ideas through multidisciplinary online dialogue.

Fabián Barros, an architect, academic, and Ph.D. in Advanced Architectural Projects, will lead the upcoming Atravieso Urbano—a walking tour organized by the Universidad Finis Terrae School of Architecture in partnership with the Nuestro Centro association—which explores the cultural, urban, and historical significance of the neighborhood.

Organized by the Centro para la Arquitectura Constructo – AoA, this seminar features three lectures exploring the figure, theoretical contributions, and built work of Chilean architect Juan Borchers.

The workshop is designed for architects, engineers, designers, students, and/or academics who wish to learn about and explore the design, programming, and robotic execution of timber joinery. It will consist of two intensive days of hands-on work, covering everything from computational design to robotic timber fabrication. The workshop will be led by architect Francisco Quitral, with an introduction by architect Mauricio Vargas, MSc, both doctoral candidates at the University of Bío-Bío.

The launch of Materia Arquitectura 22: Aire will take place on Thursday, November 24, at 6:30 PM in the Patio de las Rosas at the Los Leones campus. The event will feature Pedro Ignacio Alonso, guest editor of this issue and head of the PhD program in Architecture and Urban Studies at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
