Interrupciones is a historical review of two episodes that marked a turning point in how the city is made and conceived. On Wednesday, April 28, Carolina Tobler will present the 1972 competition for the remodeling of downtown Santiago as one of the last and clearest examples in Chile of a commitment to the architectural megaproject over urban planning. Anton zu Knyphausen will present the dismantling of professional guild structures as a moment of discontinuity in the discourse of Chilean architecture and the role the profession sought to play in urban development.

On Thursday, March 25, at 12:00 PM (4:00 PM in Barcelona, Spain), the international conference "The Design and Construction of Antoni Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia: Its Development Over Three Centuries" will take place. The event is organized by the Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile, the Association of Architectural Offices of Chile (AOA), and the Corporación Gaudí de Triana.

“1972 | Cities for Downtown Santiago” is a curatorial cycle by barco, produced in collaboration with Uruguayan researcher and architect Carolina Tobler. It seeks to develop and critically examine a significant episode in Chilean architecture that marks the end of a specific way of thinking about and creating the city: the 1972 Competition for the Remodeling of Downtown Santiago. The cycle includes a physical exhibition, three virtual conversations, and an academic workshop held within the UC Master of Urban Project program.

The Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile is celebrating another anniversary with a series of free, fully online events. The milestone began on Tuesday, August 4, marking 78 years since the enactment of Law 7.211, which established the Colegio de Arquitectos de Chile in 1942—during the administration of President Carlos Ibáñez del Campo—and kicked off the Month of Architecture in Chile.

This year, the way we inhabit our cities and homes has undergone a radical shift due to the pandemic. Diseases, plagues, wars, and catastrophes have forced us to reorganize our cities and create new systems and typologies. Similarly, this pandemic has prompted us to question how we work, study, rest, and inhabit. WAUM 2020 will reflect on potential scenarios through interventions that allow us to "repair the current city" based on three visions: the city of delights, the distributed city, and the healthy city. Each participating group, composed of students from different universities and guided by a faculty team, will adopt one of these three visions to propose an artifact, system, building, or structure that functions as a "repairing" prototype—one that is non-site-specific yet applicable to various situations.

The First National Meeting on Architectural Initiation is an event designed to establish an unprecedented space for dialogue, aimed at exchanging diverse teaching experiences, building a national overview of current university-level architectural education, and proposing new collective challenges regarding the process of introducing students to the discipline.

The Wind Pavilion is a space covered by over 500 square meters of lightweight fabric that moves in response to wind generated by various fans, controlled by an Arduino digital system.

A talk in which three National Architecture Award winners will reflect on their past, present, and future; the simultaneous premiere of three documentaries showcasing the life and work of two icons of Chilean architecture; and a panel discussion where a National Urbanism Award winner and a Pritzker Architecture Prize laureate will outline post-pandemic cities. "Luz en movimiento" is a workshop designed to expand the artistic and professional horizons of visual artists, designers, advertisers, and musicians through the creation of audiovisual content using Modul8. The workshop also includes an introduction to Madmapper software.
