More about this product

A-Light is a manufacturer of high-performance architectural luminaires designed to elevate contemporary spaces with visual precision and minimal forms.

A-Light’s Accolade D3 and D5 luminaires were used throughout Joe T. Robinson Middle School in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA. Designed by WER Architects/Planners, the lighting strategy brings playfulness and bold geometry to this award-worthy educational facility built for twenty-first-century learning.

The 145,000 sq.ft. school, constructed for the Pulaski County Special School District, serves approximately 800 students across three floors, each dedicated to a single grade level. From the outset, the design emphasized innovation, safety, and student engagement.

A-Light’s luminaires were chosen to help transform the campus’s public spaces into visually dynamic and welcoming environments. Custom patterns of D3 surface and D5 recessed linear fixtures are arranged in large suspended squares across key areas, including the central staircase, lobby, and cafetorium. These patterns create a strong visual identity and deliver bright, uniform illumination for safety and comfort.

Accolade D3 and D5 luminaires Application

A-Light’s Design Assist team collaborated with the architects to create a truly unique installation along the school’s central stair. A single D3 luminaire shifts seamlessly from wall-mounted to suspended to surface-mounted as it follows the geometry of the stair’s angled corner, reaching up to 110° in transitions. The result is a continuous line of light that not only enhances safety but also anchors the architectural composition.

In the cafetorium, a large multi-purpose space, patterns of D3 and D5 luminaires play with ceiling depth to generate visual texture and ambient lighting that supports student activities. These long-lasting, energy-efficient fixtures contribute to the school’s LEED goals and ongoing sustainability efforts, while also supporting a renewed sense of pride and community for students and staff.
