A-Light is a manufacturer of high-performance architectural luminaires designed to elevate contemporary spaces with visual precision and minimal forms.

A-Light’s A4 Arcature wall-mounted luminaires were used throughout the 1.4-million-sq.ft. Children’s Hospital of Denver, located on the University of Colorado Health Science Center Fitzsimmons campus in Aurora, Colorado, USA. Designed by ZGF Architects in collaboration with H+L Architecture and Francis Krahe & Associates, the hospital creates a comforting, family-centered environment to support healing for young patients and their families.

The facility was designed to counteract the intimidating scale and aesthetic typically associated with healthcare architecture. Using regional materials, familiar color palettes, art, and natural light, the design team broke the massive program into approachable, human-scaled experiences. Broad windows, curved glass walls, rooftop terraces, and landscaped outdoor spaces promote calm and connection to nature. The interior spaces feature warm wood finishes, terrazzo floors with embedded artwork, and carefully controlled acoustics to reduce stress and support wellbeing.

A-Light’s A4 Arcature luminaires were wall-mounted along corridors on every floor to illuminate the brightly colored walls and ease navigation through the large-scale facility. In registration zones adjacent to the daylight-filled atrium, 6-ft A4 fixtures serve as task lighting, contributing to a welcoming check-in experience. Their sculptural profile and uniform output complement the hospital’s emphasis on color, clarity, and visual comfort. The lighting design by Francis Krahe & Associates balances functional needs with a child-friendly atmosphere, contributing to a space that feels less like a hospital and more like a place of care and discovery.
