More about this product

Solid Pine wood flooring from Dinesen was used in a restoration project for a historical building. The extensive restoration of Frederik VIII’s Palace in Copenhagen has transformed it into a modern and functional home for the Danish Crown Prince Couple.

Palace Design

The Amalienborg Castle is a palace complex that has served as a royal residence since the 1700s. The complex, a chief achievement in Danish architecture, consists of four palaces that appear identical from the outside. But the interiors tell another story. In 2010, Frederik VIII’s Palace was restored from top to bottom and became a modern home for the Danish Crown Prince Couple. The restoration took five years to complete, renewing the building to modern standards, while also taking into account environmental aspects with respect to energy efficiency.

Pine Floors

Where the existing wooden plank floors could not be reused, Dinesen solid Pine planks were installed, which match the elegant palatial interior dating from the late French Empire style of the 1800s. Dinesen has considerable expertise in creating floors for listed buildings. The bespoke Pine floors in Frederik VIII’s Palace match the historical floors in appearance and quality.
