Through talks, exhibitions, workshops, installations, screenings, tours, and social events, the festival invites the public to explore how design shapes the places we live, the experiences we share, and the future of our city.

This year’s theme, In Tune, explores the rhythms of the city around us—its sounds, spaces, people, and everyday experiences. Through diverse programming, Design Week Calgary examines how design helps us notice what is often overlooked, revealing new connections between the built world and the lives we lead.

The Swiss Finance & Property Group (SFP Group) invites students of architecture, urban design, landscape architecture, spatial planning, and related disciplines to participate in the Walzwerk Student Design Competition, an international ideas competition exploring the future of one of Switzerland's most distinctive former industrial sites.

Each month, Friends of Residential Treasures Los Angeles (FORT: LA) curates a new self-guided trail, inviting Angelenos to explore the city's rich architectural heritage. These immersive experiences highlight significant homes, hidden gems, and the designers who have shaped Los Angeles' built environment.

How can the mycelial structure of fungi shape the future of architecture and design? Can mycelium-based materials replace existing materials or give rise to entirely new categories and forms of industrial material production? This book brings together leading international experts to examine the potential of mycelium for resource-efficient biomaterials. International architecture competition for the design of a contemporary thermal retreat located at the Blue Lagoon (Iceland). The project will serve as a tourist attraction focused on offering an immersive experience amidst water, rock, steam, and incredible landscapes.

For decades, professionals have accepted an uncomfortable reality: hours spent at a desk often result in stiff backs, constant shifting, and creeping mental fatigue. While conventional ergonomic seating has sought to improve comfort through adjustable mechanisms, it has largely continued to assume that effective sitting depends on maintaining a stable posture. Growing understanding of the relationship between movement, physical well-being, and cognitive performance suggests a different approach, one in which motion becomes an integral part of the seating experience rather than something to be minimized.

Architecture often draws on the history of a place, translating local narratives into contemporary forms, materials, and spatial experiences. Located in the spa town of Bad Orb near Frankfurt, ALEA RESORT HIDEAWAY follows this approach, taking inspiration from the site's history of salt extraction.

Designed by PLAJER + FRANZ studio, the 5,200 m² hospitality project references the geometry of salt crystals through its architectural language while using lighting solutions from OLEV to shape the atmosphere of its interior spaces. Jabal Umm Nuthaylah International Site Design Ideas Competition invites architects, landscape architects, and urban designers worldwide to reimagine one of Madinah's most striking volcanic landmarks.

Buildner has announced the results of its Re-Form: New Life for Old Spaces, second edition, an international ideas competition examining the adaptive reuse of small-scale existing buildings. The competition invited architects and designers to propose transformations of used, abandoned, or overlooked structures with an approximate footprint of 250 square meters, located anywhere in the world. With no fixed site or program, participants were encouraged to explore alternatives to demolition and new construction through reuse strategies grounded in contemporary social and environmental concerns.

The Oscar Niemeyer Award for Latin American Architecture, or ON Award, was established as an initiative of the Latin American Architecture Biennials Network (REDBAAL), founded in Quito through a constitutive act signed on November 23, 2012, during the XVIII Pan-American Architecture Biennial of Quito (BAQ 2012).

Architect, painter, and sculptor Joaquín Vaquero Palacios (Oviedo, 1900–Madrid, 1998) was a total creator who approached the creative process holistically. The exhibition 'Joaquín Vaquero Palacios: The Beauty of the Colossal. Asturias, 1954-1980' at the Museo ICO focuses on the work he realized through a 30-year collaboration with Hidroeléctrica del Cantábrico, resulting in five Asturian power plants conceived as total works of art.

Placing five low-income families from a settlement in southern Lima, Peru, at the center of local and global design. That is the vision behind CIUDADES [en] VISIBLE.

CIUDADES [en] VISIBLE will be the flagship competition of MUTUO, and this is its pilot edition. MUTUO is a collaborative project dedicated to the dream of decent housing, founded in 2016 by Mar Layseca and Sebastian Paredes Smith, both architects who graduated from the School of Architecture of the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas.

The competition focuses on designing homes for five low-income families within the 3 de Diciembre settlement in Lurín. The Acarraz, Huamán, López, Salazar, and Teccse families will be the protagonists of this architectural challenge.

The eighth edition of the CINECOAR Film and Architecture Cycle is taking place, organized by the Fundación Cultural de Arquitectos de La Rioja in collaboration with the Filmoteca Rafael Azcona. As in previous editions, we aim to examine various themes related to the city and our role as citizens.

The 3rd International Forum on Urban Interventions: Public Space: From Citizen Action to Urban Policy is one of Latin America's most significant events focused on public space and urban interventions. It brings together citizens, collectives, academics, public officials, business leaders, and international activist networks dedicated to reclaiming public space and its usage, ultimately contributing to an improved quality of life in cities.

Throughout 2018, World Design Capital CDMX has presented a program divided into formal events, as well as a local agenda featuring academic activities such as the Inter-University Circuit, which aims to foster academic interaction and create a collaborative platform among universities, schools, and design educational institutions throughout the year.
