Originally released in 2017, the book "Sensory Architecture - The Art of Designing for All Senses" (Arquitetura sensorial - A arte de projetar para todos os sentidos) by Juliana Duarte Neves is now receiving a second, revised and expanded edition from Mapa Lab, a publisher focused on slow publishing. The Rio de Janeiro launch will take place on Monday, April 8, at 7:00 PM, at Livraria da Travessa in Leblon.

This Saturday, October 26, at 5:00 PM, artist Fernanda Leme, curator Alexandre Sá, and art critic Marisa Flórido will host a guided tour of the exhibition “Monstros,” which remains on view through October 31 at Z42 Arte in Cosme Velho. The exhibition provides an overview of the eleven-year career of Rio-based artist Fernanda Leme, featuring approximately 80 paintings—most of which are previously unseen—produced from 2013 to the present. These works explore the intersection of painting and photography in contemporary life. Drawing from her own experiences, the artist uses her work to address universal themes, such as the liquid society we inhabit, the fleeting nature of images, grief, loss, and longing. “The exhibition is a chronicle of our time, a work of memory and imagery,” the artist explains.

Architects from diverse backgrounds have been challenged to answer the question: “What is a space of freedom?”. The exhibition celebrating the Maia Architecture Month in Portugal (MAM) will take place from October 5 to November 3 at the Fórum da Maia, marking the fifth edition of the initiative.

Presentation and conversation with architect Jessica Martínez, researcher at the Technological University of Havana and heritage restoration architect, currently a doctoral candidate in Architecture and Urbanism at UBB. The talk draws on her professional experience as an architect at a firm responsible for the rehabilitation and restoration of Havana's historic center, as well as community projects in Cuba. The goal is to explore and share practical experiences and social contexts from various Latin American realities to broaden the architectural and disciplinary horizon. The presentation will take place in the Architecture Postgraduate Room on Thursday, April 4, at 12:15 PM.

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Carlos Scliar House Museum, the exhibition "The Artivists: Carlos Scliar and Cildo Meireles" will open on June 29, 2024, at 6:00 PM, bringing together the work of these two important artists for the first time. "Scliar was fundamental in my life," says Cildo Meireles about his friend, who passed away in 2001. Curated by Cristina Ventura, the museum's coordinator, the exhibition presents around thirty works—some never before seen—spanning from the 1940s to 2021. The show is complemented by participatory works inspired by the two artists. The exhibition, which will be free to the public until the end of August, is presented by the Federal Government, the Ministry of Culture, the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, and the Rio de Janeiro State Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy through the Paulo Gustavo Law.

This Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 4:00 PM, a free public talk will be held with artist Marcela Cantuária and curator Andressa Rocha at the exhibition "Transmutation: Alchemy and Resistance" at the Paço Imperial. The event will also feature the launch of the exhibition's physical and digital catalogs. The exhibition will remain on view only until this coming Sunday, July 7, 2024. The 72-page catalog, which includes texts by Aldones Nino, Andressa Rocha, and Clara Anastácia, as well as photography by Vicente de Mello, will be available in print and as an e-book, with free viewing on the Área 27 production company website.

The AU&DI Architecture & Design Week at Anhembi Morumbi University is a biannual event that brings together students, faculty, and professionals for a series of enriching and interactive activities. This semester, the event will take place from October 28 to November 1, 2024, across the Vila Olímpia, Mooca, and Paulista campuses, with programming scheduled for morning, afternoon, and evening sessions.

Considered the most important national forum for discussion, professional development, and the dissemination of technical-scientific information focused on wood-applied sciences, this 18th edition of the event will bring together researchers and professionals from Brazil and abroad who are interested in expanding their knowledge and seeking new partners in the timber construction sector.

The "3rd Seminar and 1st National Meeting of Experimental Construction Sites," to be held in São Paulo, Brazil, from May 27 to 30, 2024, aims to bring together professors, researchers, technicians, students, and communities involved in architectural production within Experimental Construction Sites at Schools of Architecture and Urbanism, as well as independent territories across Brazil and the world, to exchange experiences in teaching, research, and university outreach. With this in mind, the event seeks to create spaces for the exchange of ideas and debates regarding different pedagogical methods, objectives, and technologies, as well as procedures and action strategies for operating both within formal academic spaces and externally, through practical formative actions addressing the country's social needs in rural and urban housing, and the various public buildings still lacking in Brazilian society.

• Recover the history and origins of experimental architectural construction sites.
• Debate principles and issues relevant to experimental construction sites, including the current global socio-environmental crisis, with guests from civil society and professors from Brazilian and international architecture schools.
• Commemorate and reflect on the 25th anniversary of the FAU USP experimental construction site with the launch of a photographic exhibition.
1st RENACE Meeting
• Establish a national network by identifying existing construction sites in Brazil through presentation circles and exhibitions of teaching, research, and outreach work.
• Collaborate on the practical realization of independent architecture through collective construction workshops.
• Disseminate the dialogical pedagogical method to those interested in creating new experimental construction sites.
• Explore experiences through visits to nearby experimental construction sites.

On October 22 and 29, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, the Rio Grande do Sul chapter of the Brazilian Association of Architectural Offices (AsBEA-RS) is hosting the second short course in its special program series in partnership with the Instituto Ling. Building on last year's success, the "Women in Architecture" course will be led by architect Clarice Debiagi, who will explore the work of various professionals in the field within the contemporary context.

The performance “Cult against the Frauds” (Culto contra os embustes), by artist Panmela Castro, will take place this Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 4:00 PM, at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR). It is part of the exhibition “Radical Ideas about Love,” which remains on view until November 24, 2024.

3D-printed construction is an emerging technology worldwide, offering significant advantages in productivity, sustainability, and versatility. It enables the completion of entire buildings in less time, with reduced resource consumption and waste, while introducing new design and robotic construction processes.

Migration has been a constant phenomenon throughout human history and has played a fundamental role in the formation and development of cities. While it may not appear to be a particularly novel approach at first glance, there are few topics more relevant today than migration, which is intersected by political, geostrategic, economic, environmental, and urban issues. Today, new structural factors are driving it with greater force than ever before. Instability in the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America, the war in Ukraine, climate change, poverty, and population growth only serve to increase the flow of people seeking a better place in the world.
