New generations of thinkers and creators view destruction as the end of one cycle and the beginning of another—a future already upon us that demands we address the effects of the previous period through an essential, transparent, consistent, and horizontal union of ethics and aesthetics.
This is the origin of DESTROY HOUSE, a site-specific installation by Valencian artist Ovidi Benet for HYPER HOUSE. Its very conception is built upon its own destruction, transforming us, shifting our attitudes, and ultimately fostering change. We set out in search of beauty amidst the chaos, observing the moment immediately following a tragedy—that sublime second before we have trained our gaze, when that new sensation changes us.
