Titled “Paulo: Beyond the Drawing,” the exhibition at the Casa Gallery offers visitors a broader perspective on the Brazilian architect’s worldview and the reflections on the many themes that engaged them—themes that, ultimately, define their work.

On Thursday, November 16, at 7:00 PM, Galeria Athena will host a free, public conversation between artist Jonas Arrabal, curator Fernanda Lopes, and artist Julia Arbex. The discussion will center on "Ensaio sobre uma duna" (Essay on a Dune), a solo exhibition by Jonas Arrabal on view at the gallery through December 2.

The Landscape Architecture specialization program is dedicated to the field of Applied Social Sciences, focusing on Urban Environmental Interventions across various landscape scales. Romano Guerra Editora and Galeria Gomide&Co are launching the book Três casas: estratégias de projeto (Three Houses: Design Strategies). The publication explores the design methodologies of three contemporary architecture firms—Pezo von Ellrichshausen, Ryue Nishizawa, and Aires Mateus—to understand each architect's modus operandi through experimental houses: the Poli House (Coliumo Peninsula, Chile, 2005), the Moriyama House (Tokyo, Japan, 2005), and the House in Coruche (Portugal, 2007). These projects point toward an expansion of the architectural lexicon that transcends classical movements—such as modernism and postmodernism—by introducing new aspects: spatial neutrality, ambivalence in the design of boundaries, and the tensioning of abstract forms.

On August 7, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU Mackenzie) will host Zaida Muxí and Josep Maria Montaner for its inaugural lecture. Zaida Muxí, an expert in urbanism, architecture, and gender, will present her latest publication, the book Mujeres, casas y ciudades. Más allá del umbral. Josep Maria Montaner, author of over fifty books, will share insights on his new book during the lecture “Otra Historia, Razón y Orden en la Arquitectura Contemporánea.”

Freedom Forum to feature panel with experts on urban challenges and solutions

We are continuing the discussions regarding two relatively recent heritage typologies that require greater attention in contemporary times: modern and industrial heritage. The goal is to foster dialogue between modernity and the industrial production that utilized new materials, construction systems, and architectural works that defined this era. These works must be constantly remembered, as they unfortunately suffer from ongoing alterations or even demolition due to a lack of recognition as heritage assets by much of society.

This event will feature various papers on different perspectives of simulation applied to performance analysis across a wide range of building types, fostering a rich debate on the present and future of this resource.

The Growarq Intensive is an event dedicated to architects, engineers, designers, and students looking to revolutionize their design process through a methodology that combines two software programs: Revit and Lumion. The event will take place entirely online on January 30, 31, and February 2, 2023, at 7:00 PM each day.

América Cupello, Andréa Facchini, Antônia Philippsen, Carlota Philippsen, Clarisse Tarran, Claudia Watkins, Ecila Huste, Edineusa Bezerril, Esther Barki, Grasi Fernasky, Lia do Rio, Maria Pitú, Monica Barki, and Pérola Bonfanti make up the "team" assembled by Paulo Branquinho for the group exhibition "Elas" (Them/Women). The show marks the July 8th reopening of the gallery bearing the producer's name, which had been closed since the pandemic. The feminine universe is represented by these 14 artists, who will present their work through a variety of styles and techniques. Drawing from distinct visual languages, they initiate a dialogue on diversity through paintings, photographs, objects, and installations.
