INSURGENCIES: Experiences in Public Spaces is an event that brings together the 8th International Festival of Urban Interventions (FIIU) and the 5th Placemaking Latin America Meeting, aiming to promote citizen-led urbanism through the exchange of experiences among Latin American countries.
We define "insurgency" as any intervention that seeks to transform urban space in a tactical, targeted, collaborative, and high-impact manner. These interventions may be temporary or permanent, material or immaterial, local or regional. The goal of an insurgent experience is to improve urban quality of life through actions that highlight alternative ways of inhabiting space, generating knowledge through processes of urban innovation.
