An exclusive architect-led, behind-the-scenes tour of this RIBA London Award winning building by Takero Shimazaki Architects. The building was described by the jury panel during the RIBA Awards process, saying: "Taking on an icon is not an easy task but when client and architect understand each other, the job is less daunting. It is clear here that t-sa and the clients hit the ground running. The success of the project owes much to the holistic approach to the interiors."

The 2017 Visiting School to Chile aims at studying from architectural, urban, and territorial perspectives, a series of infrastructures that since the 1960s have been installed in Rapa Nui (Easter Island) because of its extraordinary strategic location in the South Pacific Ocean. In particular, the workshop will focus its attention in the Mataveri Airport which – being the remotest runway in the world – was paved in the 1960s by the United States for the installation of a (currently abandoned) strategic base and extended again by NASA in the 1980s to become emergency landing for space shuttles.

The workshop is organized by SADAS-PEA (Greek Architects Association) in order to promote the principle of environmentally friendly architecture. It is addressed to young architects and students of architecture. It will take place at the Stamos Stournas guesthouse near the city of Volos, Greece between September 17th and September 25th 2016.

From 4 until 11 of september 2016 BC architects & studies is organizing together with Solve the Puzzle a design and build workshop about earth building and other local construction techniques of Morocco.

Modelmaking in the Digital Age 2016
From Craftsmanship to Automated Production
19-25 July 2016, Santander, Spain

Society teaches us how to use a product, education instructs us on how to design it, and our imagination pushes us to innovate, but who teaches us how to manufacture? What does creating an object involve in the twenty-first century? What is the meaning of craftsmanship in the Digital Age? This workshop aims to formulate an answer(s) to these questions through the process of making.

Building Trust are happy to announce that we will be working alongside We Yone Child Foundation to design and build a new hall space for a school that we have been working on for the last 2 years. Building Trust have a number of sustainable design and build projects around the World in 2016, ranging from schools and housing to wildlife conservation and healthcare.

We are offering a hands on participatory workshop where you will gain experience in sustainable building techniques and understand more about humanitarian design while building worthwhile projects that will have a huge benefit to the local community. You will gain an insight into a number of building techniques and architectural styles.

The international Summer School "Real Estate Architecture - Revisiting the apartment building" will take place in Liège from from August 20th to 27th. Forty students and recently graduated architects will be invited to rethink the future of the apartment buildings, products of the real estate boom of the 60s. Students will be led by four talented architects: Filipe Magalhaes (Fala Atelier), Hiraku Nissanke (OMMX), Matteo Costanzo (2A+P/A) & Bart Dehaene.

Exploring Chania as an urban laboratory on the sea edge the workshop brings into focus a number of issues common to medium-scale coastal cities in Greece, the Mediterranean, and beyond: abandoned places and urban voids, disputed edges where the ground dips into the sea, sites of remembered histories and forgotten stories, contested interfaces where the public meets the private, hybrid spaces where the physical merges with the digital, urban disorders regulated into grids and zones, local communities transforming within an international tourist market.

Through interdisciplinary master class studios the CAFx SUMMER SCHOOL explores relationships of architecture and film during eleven days in August 2016. Six upcoming architects and filmmakers under 40 years old will co-teach three thought provoking master class studios in Aarhus. The architects and filmmakers have been selected by an international jury on the basis of their recent submissions to the Future Architecture submissions (see here).
