INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP RCR 2018: III International Workshop of Scenography

The International Workshop RCR is born of a way of understanding Architecture and Landscape from a humanistic spirit. The coexistence in a space and time of different creative disciplines creates synergies for mutual enrichment between the parties.

The workshop is designed following four main ideas that articulate the program:

- Competition Format: Closed exercises that condense a complex process within a specific time frame
- Transversality: An integrative interdisciplinary approach
- Sharing: Shared creativity fostering the capacity for dialogue
- Experience: Understanding derived from observation, participation and experience

The Program consists in

- Creative Atelier. The workshop offers a brief approach to the elements that surround scenography:

180 Creative Camp 2018 in Abrantes, Portugal

This year Canal180 will host the 180 Creative Camp for the 7th time. An 8-day creative boot camp happening in Abrantes, Portugal, from 1st to 8th July. We provide time and place for young creators and invited artists to learn from each other, exchange experiences and create new projects together.

The Architecture Foundation Australia is inviting leading international practices to send a mid-career participant to the 2018 Glenn Murcutt Master Class to spend quality time with Pritzker Prize Laureate Glenn Murcutt, who is currently Chair of the Pritzker Prize Jury. The ethics, and commitment to worthy architecture, of Glenn Murcutt are world renowned, and it is seen as important that his knowledge and wisdom are passed to future generations of architects internationally.

Bamboo U: Immerse Yourself in Bamboo Building and Design in Bali

Bamboo U was an idea originally conceived to help teach professionals about the potential of bamboo as a green building material. In its current form it is a design and bamboo build workshop in Bali hosted by The Kul Kul Farm at the Green School; facilitated in collaboration with the bamboo design firm, IBUKU.

Bamboo U is a unique opportunity to design and build alongside some of the architects, designers and craftsmen who built the Green School. The group will investigate the available sites and hear from Elora Hardy, her team at IBUKU and John Hardy, co-founder of Green School.

CR.UX—Winter School

Urbanization and transformation of urban cultures are the two key phenomena taking place in the Indian sub-continent. This has been intensified by currents of globalization and migration between rural and urban areas. This poses both an opportunity as well as vulnerability to cities and the urban fabric: opportunity through spatial immersion, creating networks in the social and cultural sphere, and vulnerability manifested in gentrification and obsolescence of the same.

The Architecture of Light: A Masterclass Weekend with Patkau Architects

Patkau Architects joins Yasodhara Ashram to cohost a unique weekend masterclass that uses the Temple of Light project as a case study for exploring the design of sacred space at the edge of architectural innovation. Together the group will explore architectural and fabrication practices through short lectures, reflection and meaningful dialogue with each other and invited guests from Patkau Architects, Spearhead and Yasodhara Ashram.

Shinbisum Workshop

Generating new models for participatory development for Ulleung island in South Korea.

The SHINBISUM workshop aims to open an alternative way of thinking about rural development in Ulleung-do and beyond. In a world where participatory practices are becoming the norm, how can the local and international community contribute to shape the future of JangHeung? The residents of Ulleung island, the Korea rural community corporation, Yangji Co., and urbz invite you to imagine with them the future of one of Korea’s most iconic locality. The workshop will produce strategic ideas and design interventions for JangHeung village. If you like to create, ideate, design and build - join us for a 5-day participatory immersion in a place which embodies the struggle of many localities around the world. Like so many other places, Ulleungdo is torn in between urban development and the preservation of their natural environment.

MCH: MAS in Collective Housing

The Master of Advanced Studies in Collective Housinghttp://www.mchmaster.com/, MCH, is a postgraduate full-time international professional program of advanced architecture design in cities and housing presented by Universidad Politécnica of Madrid (UPM) and Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH). After nine editions, it is rated as one of the best architecture master’s programs by architects and experts.

Architects from all nations are trained to develop their expertise in these issues and have demonstrated a high professional level, making important contributions in research projects, winning competitions or taking leadership roles in the most relevant architecture firms.

VAA / Summer School

IAAC Barcelona Summer Workshops

The BCN Summer Workshops is a revolutionary program by IAAC, designed to connect some of the most pioneering minds of Barcelona with like-minded creatives from all around the world. Our 4-day workshops will take place in the Valldaura Estate, located inside the Collserola Natural Park, 30 minutes away from Barcelona. The program will start on July 24th with an inaugural speech from the world-acclaimed chef, Ferran Adriá (date TBC).

Research shows that sea levels around the world have been rising for many decades due to global warming. The consequences of this will put hundreds of cities at risk of being flooded. Similarly, water levels in the Mamori Lake vary greatly between the dry and wet season, when the river can grow up to 14 meters flooding the forest and changing the physiognomy of the land. Currently, local houses are built on stilts to deal with tidal variations but in recent years, this has not always been enough to prevent the river from causing devastation.

CAFx KADK Summer School 2017: Landscape as Character

After the great success of last year’s Summer School in Aarhus, we are hosting another summer camp this year in Lemvig under the title “Landscape as Character.”

The CAFx Summer School 2017 will focus on the temporal nature and character of the Danish landscape. With reference to the 17 UN goals for a better world, we will shed light on the future, present, and past of the magnificent sceneries that make up Western Jutland.
