The Architecture Foundation is inviting applications to join a masterclass, which will be staged in the James Stirling-designed Florey Building at The Queen’s College, Oxford. Six studios will consider the typology of the university, through the development of a speculative design over the course of four days (Thursday September 8th-Sunday September 11th). The studio leaders will present lectures over the course of the masterclass while the Drawing Matter Foundation will stage an exhibition drawn from its holdings of 1960’s architectural drawings. On the evening of September 12th, the studios will present their projects at a public event at London’s Barbican Arts Centre.
Izmo will run the 6th edition of the International Summer School in Turin (Italy) from 20th to 29th of July 2016. This year, the focus will be on the public space, and students will design and build a mobile green space for sitting, working, studying and playing (parklet) in order to furnish the indoor square of the converted INCET factory.
Genoa Summer School 4 // Lisbon, July 21st - July 31st, 2016
Genoa Summer School is an international workshop ideated by Vittorio Pizzigoni and Valter Scelsi, and organized within the Department in Science for Architecture, Università degli Studi di Genova. This year the Genoa Summer School 4 is organized in collaboration with Faculdade de Arquitectura da Universidade de Lisboa, it will take place in Lisboa, Portugal, from July 21st to July 31st, 2016. The topic of the workshop is "Public Spaces." Ten days of intensive program exploring the power of architecture in reshaping the environment. Students are invited to recognize the role of design in producing public spaces, inside the great traditions of the public

Syracuse Architecture along with IE Business School and IE School of Architecture and Design have teamed up to offer an innovative summer course: The Business of Architecture. The six-week, 3-credit hour-long course will be conducted at the state-of-the-art Fisher Center, home of Syracuse Architecture in New York City. This course is intended for those studying for a professional degree in architecture (B.Arch and M.Arch) as well as for young professionals and qualified students in related design fields.
This 4-session class is an introduction to architectural free-hand drawing through lessons at the Center and on-site sketching exercises outdoors.
Topics will include sketching building façades, basics of perspective drawing, and techniques for showing light, shadow and rendering building materials. This class is open to the general public - no previous drawing experience necessary. (Ages 16 and up)
