Culture Amplifier Ideas Competition

In the past, cities were often direct manifestations of their culture. The ability for civic gatherings, the exchange of ideas and values and for cultural celebration reflected in the public realm and programming of the urban fabric. During the 21st century we have experienced unprecedented global integration. Advances in technology and international economic policies have reduced many barriers to the free flow of goods, services, capital, and people. This rapid pace of globalization has fueled economic opportunities and brought with it many other benefits, but it has also begun to diffuse cultural identity in cities.

In this context, architecture has been navigating through sequential changes over the last decades with the rise and latter consolidation of new technologies, tools, formats, topics, scales, and interdisciplinary approaches, along with the emergence of the Internet that led towards a disruptive decentralization of the architecture production and discussion. Architects and designers from all over the world are embracing these challenges by pondering their roles and exploring their own practical approaches.

Competition: Landscape Artifacts

Chile possesses a varied and rich natural beauty. The current scale of territorial occupation makes it essential to protect and value the natural conservation of the landscape. Even so, conservation requires a prior process of appreciation, and there is no appreciation without knowledge.

Participants are invited to rethink and rediscover nature as a space for connection and self-discovery. Connecting with these landscapes fosters tranquility and spiritual growth, as well as a greater appreciation for the country and the planet. The competition invites a re-examination of our relationship with the territory and its natural elements, seeking to provide an experience of belonging and transcendence. Architecture should serve as a space to be moved, to be stirred, and to experience the pulse of nature or one's own body.
