The new Archstorming competition takes us to Bamako, Mali. The goal is to design and build a new urban school for Enko Education, a rapidly growing network of international African schools that provides affordable, quality education to give African youth access to the world's top universities.
Enko currently operates 15 schools and aims to open 45 more across at least 20 African countries over the next five years. To this end, they are seeking an innovative architectural design to be used in their expansion across the continent, addressing the challenges of school infrastructure.
This competition focuses on their next school, to be located in Bamako, the capital of Mali, a landlocked country in West Africa. The city has a population of 2.6 million, but it is projected to exceed 13 million by 2050, meaning a robust network of urban schools will be required by then.
