Starting December 10, the Hortitecture 01 Symposium will kickstart a (free) public lecture series in Braunschweig, Germany, centered around brainstorming synergistic strategies for integrating architecture and vegetal matter. Stefano Boeri, MVRDV and WORKac are among a list of interdisciplinary experts that will join together to offer discussions focused around the exploration of vernacular wisdom and contemporary architectural solutions to sustainable building problems.

The international seminar will weave together approaches and innovations from multiple disciplines and present studies of various horticultural and architectural projects. Aiming "to transfer knowledge beyond building design to a larger urban scope, creating better, more sustainable future cities," the new series of seminars will pose questions of the relationship of the nature-artifact combination, methodologies of integrating plant matter into building fabric, issues of maintenance and resilience, and the overall effect of plant matter on architectural and environmental design.

The speakers include representatives from Stefano Boeri Architetti, Research Group Baubotanik, PSY:PLAN, Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, TU-Braunschweig, MVRDV, Studio Saraceno, Vo Trong Nghia Architects, WORKac, and Ken Yeang Design International. Entrance is free and open to the public. Find more details about the event, here.
