Amazon to Occupy Stalled Foster Scheme

Amazon has confirmed plans to move more than 5,000 of its London employees into a Foster + Partners-designed office building planned for Shoreditch High Street. On hold since January 2012, the £290 million mixed-use scheme will compete with Amazon’s Farringdon office to serve as the online retailer’s new UK headquarters.

Dubbed “Principal Place,” the 15-story scheme will provide more than 600,000 square feet of office space and over 20,000 square feet of commercial space. Roof terraces, cafes and a half acre public piazza will be project’s main attractions.

It will be located at Liverpool Street and Spitalfields, behind a 50-story Foster-designed residential tower that, as BD reports, will be launched to the public by Brookfield later this month.
