The engaging and dynamic proposal for the Library by 10 design represents an attention for both an urban and internal connectivity. The library is intended to be a transformative environment that pulls visitors into a unique landscape. The building weaves into the ground creating a series of courtyards and topographic undulations- rooting itself, and then sweeping up into the air forming a bold urban landmark becoming a community center for the neighborhood. Horticulture Expo in Qingdao / HKS

This unique landscape and future landmark for the city of , is a first place project, submitted by the Los Angeles office of HKS Architects, for the design of the Conservatory by the Office of 2014 Qingdao World Horticultural Expo Executive Committee. ‘The Lost Wall’ / YNL Design

The Lost Wall project by YNL Design is not meant to be a physical revival of what’s lost, but rather an ideological intervention through the use of controversial architectural intrusion. It redefines the project site by sharply contrasting with the surrounding environment, an allegory of modern and its destructive treatment of Beijing’s historic buildings in the past century. Jilin CBD Master Planning Project / AECOM

The master planning of the CBD of city is a collaborative project by AECOM, a team formed by architects, urban designers, landscape designers and economists. Its collaboration across different disciplines was highly affirmed by the client and the government officials, which led to the project situated in the historical city in northeastern . Their design is proposed to be the future CBD area by the government and has high-value natural and historical resources like the Songhua River and the Xiaobai Mountain. Blue Sky Building Project / KSP Juergen Engel Architekten

KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten recently won the international competition entitled “Blue Sky Building Project” for the Air headquarters in the major west Chinese city of Chengdu. With its design for the high-rise, the international team from Frankfurt/Main and Beijing headed by Johannes Reinsch, Managing Director of KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten, saw off five other entries. The office boasts a gross surface area (GSA) of 124,000 m² and offers space for a total of 5,470 workspaces. The fact that the high-rise design should serve as a role model with regard to energy efficiency and sustainability is of major concern to the developer. Steinberg Architects, an international design firm, recently announced they will manage the design of the extensive Changsha Songya Hu mixed-use project in after winning an intensely competitive bid process. Key aspects of the project include a waterfront business district, an entertainment district, and an ecological model community mixing residences and green public spaces. SOM Chicago wins competition to design the Wujiang Greenland Tower

The Chicago office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP (SOM) has announced their victory in an international competition to design the Greenland Group Suzhou Center in Wujiang, . The 358-meter tower’s efficient split-core configuration demands a double-take, as the “curved, tapered form unifies the office, hotel and residential uses within a single volume.”

Morris Architects shared with us their Houston Pavilion for the 8th International Garden Expo in , , which is a showcase for a variety of landscape typologies throughout and the world. The theme, “Better Garden, Better City”, promotes harmony between landscaped and built spaces. The City of Houston is one of thirty-two international cities invited to participate in the Expo. The project by AQSO Arquitectos, a high density residential complex in Guangyuan, , is conceived as a strong element in consonance with the surrounding hilly scene. The buildings rise over the landscape becoming a milestone, a sober and expressive landmark. This massing makes it possible to archive the desired plot ratio and increases the green areas on the ground, minimizing the building footprint.
