The East River Park Museum Competition in Brooklyn, New York have just announced it’s winner. We really love it’s simplicity and good use of materials. We couldn’t find out who designed it, so if you know, please do tell us!

Wai Think Tank have shared with us their proposal for the Fashion Museum Competition in Omotesando Street in Tokyo, Japan. The challenge consisted in designing a 100 meters high tower-museum, containing exhibition areas of 20th century fashion history and becoming a landmark for Tokyo.

During 2009 the Guggenheim Museum celebrated its 50th anniversary. The museum commissioned nearly 200 artists, architects and designers to imagine their dream interventions on the most significative space of Frank Lloyd Wright’s building, the central void.
This Competition concerns the development of the architectural conceptual design of the building to house the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk, intended to become a new identity landmark of the City of Gdansk, and the conceptual site landscape design commensurate with the nature, status, and location of the site.

LIGHTCONE uses fiber-optic lines to turn the void into a light channel with different purposes:
We recently featured Preston Scott Cohen‘s Nanjing Performing Arts Center and, now, we share his winning competition proposal for the Taiyuan Museum of Art. Currently under construction, the building’s strong dynamic form is a geometric spin on the agricultural landscapes native to the Shanxi Province. The tessellated surfaces respond to contemporary technologies for controlling natural and artificial light, in addition to producing unexpected spatial conditions as the user circulates through and around the building.

Poland-based Jednacz Architekci shared with us their proposal for the Museum of Polish History competition, for which they received 2nd Prize.

We continue with more proposals for the Museum of Polish History Competition, this time with the proposal by kOnyk architecture (more projects by the firm previously featured at AD). One of the key feature’s of their proposal is to construct a parking structure over the Trasa Lazienkowska Highway that will serve as a “land bridge” that will unify the park as well as be a platform for observation of the Wilsa River below.
