Archisource presents ‘Drawing of the Year 2019’. Our first competition celebrating the talent of architecture and design students and young professionals through a single drawing. With four categories to win from, we are celebrating the extensive variety of drawings that are created around the world each year.

After 200-300,000 years of our presence on the planet, we have evolved and raced ahead of other species in no time. In an inevitable evolution to survive and thrive, humans (homo sapiens) have come to the age of advanced technology and lifestyle. In this trail of the progress we have caused the past century’s warming of the earth, by releasing gases that trap heat energy in the atmosphere. These gases, known as greenhouse gases are now at their highest levels than they have been in the past 800,000 years. These greenhouse gases cause a rise in the Earth’s overall temperature causing “Global Warming”.

THE HALYARD is pleased to announce an international design competition to design the finishing touches and interior items for the Owners Suite. The aim of the competition is to provide a unique concept showcasing “Industrial Steam Punk” for the Owners Suite. The Owners Suite is a double storey penthouse situated on the 24 and 25 Floors of the newly completed building known as “The Halyard".

The Avery Review, a journal of critical essays on architecture published by the Office of Publications at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, invites submissions for its third annual Essay Prize. The call is open to current students (undergraduate and masters) and recent graduates, whether in schools of architecture or elsewhere (eligibility details below). In keeping with the mission of the journal, we hope to receive submissions that use the genres of the review and the critical essay to explore some of the urgent questions animating the field of architecture. We’re looking for essays that test and expand the author’s own intellectual commitments—theoretical, architectural, and political—through the work of others.

To the regular student of architecture, journalism may seem as a largely outlandish field. It is, however, largely untapped as a source of intellect. It is this source that Dayananda Sagar College of Architecture (DSCA), Bengaluru, India, one of the renowned architectural institutions of India is looking to explore through its venture of an essay writing competition.

Urban Detox provides you a public platform to encourage a strong sense of spatial qualities in a fast-paced urban circumstances. It is a competition of ideas, an opportunity to experiment and explore the limits of architecture. It focuses on creating a design that helps city dwellers to maximize their happiness, to heal their mind and body, to offer them freedom to live through self-expression, and most of all, to engage their five senses in experiencing space.
This competition aims to collect design ideas geared towards how architecture can bring forth the overlooked qualities in a Jakarta commuting atmosphere. It encourages to add values to the commuting culture.
The competition is open for all undergraduate university students all around the world. It can be Individual or team (up to 3 people) consist of at least one student from architecture or interior architecture major.

The new competition "Photo of the Year" encourages students of architecture to look at architecture in interaction with its users: the children, young and old people who work, live and die in architecture.

The Competition “inHAUS LAB – Design your modular house” is an initiative of Casas inHAUS that was created to promote creativity and innovation in Architecture. Contents of the competition
The NPO Asian Institute of Low Carbon Design (AILCD) is pleased to invite students from all over the world to take part in the 9th AILCD International Student Design Competition.
The theme of this year is “Less is MOji – REboot the City”.
The competition addresses the problem of urban shrinkage in the Mojiko area in Kitakyushu. The competition asks the students to re-design the urban landscape and to make a proposal for a low carbon urban project within this area. Urban shrinkage should be considered as a real problem for targeted area and the city of Kitakyushu.

QUARRIES occupy an area of ​​about two hundred thousand square meters: a system divided into galleries, gardens, open-air spaces. Not all are visible: some rest beneath the ground, guarding precious traces of the past. As ECO, a two-thousand-square-meters hypogean quarry discovered last year, by the founders of Periferica, during survey work for Evocava - the future museum of Mazara quarries.

ARCHsharing proposes, in partnership with the humanitarian association TECHO Haiti, the construction of a rural school for the TE NWA community, north of Port-au-Prince. The project will have to meet many social, constructive and economic challenges while proposing solutions that improve educational conditions. The school will include 7 levels of classes and will benefit more than 50 children in the community. 

Participate in the ARCHsharing contest and come to build your first building with Techo Haiti. For the fifth edition, archsharing is in collaboration with Techo Haiti to build a school at 35 kilometers from port-au-Prince.

The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is pleased to announce its 8th International Student Tall Building Design Competition. The goal of the competition is to shed new light on the meaning and value of tall buildings in modern society.

The goal of the 2019 Student Research Competition is to assist talented students, working in groups under the guidance of a professor, to focus on a relevant research question, and create an engaging output as a response. Research proposals should directly relate to the 2019 topic of “Sustainable Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat”. Proposals can come from any topic/discipline, including but not limited to: architecture, construction, energy issues, environmental engineering, façade design, financial & cost issues, fire & life safety, humanities, infrastructure, interiors, maintenance & cleaning, materials, MEP engineering, policy making, resource management, seismic, social aspects, structural engineering, systems development, urban planning, vertical transportation, wind engineering, etc.
