The subject of this competition arises from the need for the Zabjelo neighborhood in Podgorica to obtain a Local Community Center that will, through its program, contribute to improving the social quality of life of its residents. More precisely, its content will support the long-term development of the Capital City through principles of spatial planning, along with social and economic development and environmental protection.

The theme of the competition is the design of the 350-hectare "Arsenal Memory Park" complex. The acceleration of climate change has amplified the scientific urgency to study Earth’s polar regions. Traditional research stations are often permanent, carbon-intensive structures with significant logistical and environmental footprints. This competition challenges architects and designers to envision the next generation of scientific outposts. We seek a paradigm shift towards a mobile, modular, and sustainable architecture that can be deployed, reconfigured, and removed with minimal impact on the fragile Arctic ecosystem. This new model must prioritize energy self-sufficiency, operational resilience in extreme conditions, and the psychological well-being of researchers living in prolonged isolation, thereby enabling more agile and responsible scientific exploration.

The Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA) has launched its 2026 Awards Programme, with the Education Categories inviting students across the Commonwealth to submit work that demonstrates significant contributions to addressing contemporary global challenges including climate change, rapid urbanisation, biodiversity loss, and social inequality. For over half a century, the American suburban home has been more than just a building—it has been a cultural symbol, a promise, and at times a problem. Once imagined as the embodiment of comfort and stability, it now often represents excess, isolation, and environmental strain. How can this archetype be redefined for a century marked by climate urgency, economic pressure, and shifting social values? What does the "American home" mean today, and what should it mean tomorrow?

The Festival des Architectures Vives offers the public an immersive exploration of the historic courtyards, architectural treasures of Montpellier, every year. The 2025 edition, held from June 10 to 15, featured 13 installations within these historic sites, attracting nearly 16,000 visitors and receiving very positive feedback.

ARCHITECTURE AND THE POLITICS OF THE PUBLIC REALM

In the face of the global housing crisis, the challenges of affordable and social housing go far beyond construction cost and speed—they encompass spatial quality, social equity, governance mechanisms, and environmental impact. Directly addressing these complexities, this July, the Institute of Smart City and Management - University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH - ISCM), in collaboration with partners from Korea, Singapore, and Thailand, will host the International Conference Dwelling in Transition: Reimagining Affordable and Social Housing across Scales and Systems.
The conference will be a multidisciplinary and cross-sectoral platform for professionals to come together, share knowledge, and rethink the meaning of "affordability" through lenses of design, policymaking, finance, and sustainability. With new definitions, models, and theoretical frameworks built upon expert research, this event aims to reshape housing paradigms to better suit today's economic and social realities.
