Genius Loci Weimar Video Mapping and Facade Projection Competition

All interested artists are invited to submit their concept ideas for the Genius Loci Weimar Festival between the opening date of 27 January 2016 up to the deadline of 23 March 2016. Submitted concepts will be displayed ina public exhibition in Weimar in spring 2016. The best projects will chosen, among other means, with the help of an audience vote. The three winning projects will then be completed with the help of prize money totalling €45,000 before being shown in the context of an evening tour of Weimar, itself part of a wider festival to take place from 12 to 14 August 2016.

Amsterdam Light Festival invites artists, designers, scientists, engineers and architects to submit ideas for artworks to be staged at the festival's 2016 - 2017 edition. The fifth edition of the Amsterdam Light Festival will take place in the city center of Amsterdam in November 2015 till January 2016. The deadline for submissions is 11th of March 2016.

BSA Family Design Day: Dream Dwellings

This month, Family Design Day will be taking inspiration from the exhibition Global Citizen: The Architecture of Moshe Safdie and following Moshe Safdie FAIA’s design principle (and book of the same name), For everyone a garden, participants will transform a basic shoe box into a dream apartment with unique green space that reflects the goals of Habitat ’67, the 1960s housing complex that launched the architect’s career.

Global Citizen: The Architecture of Moshe Safdie

World-renowned architect and 2015 AIA Gold Medal–winner Moshe Safdie FAIA’s masterful use of light and geometry is explored in Global Citizen. This international exhibition is a retrospective that spans decades, from Safdie’s formative period in the 1960s and early 1970s to his recent projects around the world. Featuring more than 100 objects, including drawings, sketches, videos, photographs, and scale models, Safdie’s architecture is portrayed not only as visual art but also as a medium for advancing social, political, and cultural goals.

This exhibition is curated by Donald Albrecht and designed by Nader Tehrani.

Call for Proposals: The 2016 Fuller Challenge

The Buckminster Fuller Institue (BFI) has issued the Call for Proposals for the 2016 Fuller Challenge. Known as “socially-responsible design’s highest award,” the Fuller Challenge invites designers, architects, planners, entrepreneurs, scientists, artists, activists, and students worldwide to submit original solutions to some of humanity’s most pressing problems.

A $100,000 prize is awarded to support the development and implementation of the winning project. In addition to the grand prize, BFI will provide further resources for finalists, semi-finalists and select entrants through its Catalyst Program.
