Call for Entries: DSGN Innovation Hub Scheme in Bali, Indonesia - International Competition 2018

DSGN (Design Student Global Network) officially launches its first international design competition! The winning proposal - an Innovation Hub development scheme for a rural community site in Bali, Indonesia - is to be built as part of the first series of international design workshops, beginning in early 2019. The center will then be used by the local community-based Five Pillar Foundation to collaborate and disseminate their skills classes for community development and social entrepreneurship.

COOK8 International Design Competition

Following ROOM18, Domés International Review of Architecture, launches the International Design Competition COOK8.

COOK8 has as its subject the design of an interior dining space for 8 people, of an area of 24 - 30m2. The space must include:
- a preparation area (conservation, readying, preparation, cleaning, storage of foodstuffs and utensils)
- a consumption area
- a hygiene area (WC and washbasin, together or separate).

Archistart promotes the second Architectural Thesis Award, the international thesis award, launched with the aim of promoting, rewarding and giving visibility to young talents in architecture.

A call for entries is now being made for the Tenth European Prize for Urban Public Space, 2018. Since 2000 this biennial honorific award has aimed to recognise, promote and publicise examples of good practice in dealing with the many challenges faced by public spaces in European cities. The Prize aims to support the open, compact city of universal access, guaranteeing harmonious coexistence among its citizens, a mixture of uses, and sustainable mobility, preserving the historical memory of places, and favouring participation of citizens in projects designing shared spaces.

Conference: RESONATE | Thinking Sound and Space

2018 Architectural League Prize | Objective

Young architects and designers are invited to submit work to the annual Architectural League Prize Competition. Projects of all types, either theoretical or real, and executed in any medium, are welcome. The jury will select work for presentation in lectures, digital media, and an exhibition in June 2018. Winners will receive a cash prize of $2,000.

Call for Entries: Beyond the Centerline - Reinventing NYC's Park Avenue Medians with Design

Park Avenue, one of the world’s premiere thoroughfares, is traditionally known for its tall buildings that are home to Fortune 500 companies. The medians of Park Avenue, or the “centerlines,” are traditionally characterized by plantings and periodic sculpture installations. Park Avenue medians represent a traditional element of New York City but also provide an opportunity for reinvention. Other areas of New York City, such as the High Line, have successfully transformed into an exciting destination for city dwellers and visitors alike.
