The call for applications will be open until December 31st, 2019 for architects and students of architecture and related fields. Individual authors or groups are welcome to apply. Cartographies of the Imagination presents a forum for the multi-disciplinary discussion of cartography as world-making. We seek to explore alternative practices of charting not only physical places but also the means of mapping people, objects, memories, events, movements and narratives. We invite scholars, practitioners and artists working with all forms of world-making to investigate and discuss their perspectives, projects, research and practice. We invite all interpretations of the topic - be it a talk or paper, presentation, live drawing, film, performance or otherwise. Cartographies of the Imagination will be staged over two weeks in the RIBA London 2019 award-winning OmVed Gardens and Greenhouses in Highgate, from 17 April to 1 May.

The shores of the Bosporus, which has been the subject of the writings of many travellers, writers and historians for centuries, kept the architectural identity that was passed on to us until recently. However, with the increase in the population as a result of the migrations since the 1980s, the city began growing towards the sea, losing its natural borders.

The business world is beginning to acknowledge design is power. Leading companies embracing design as a core strategy are charting new territory, leaving competitors in their wake. The vast majority of organizations, however, are either experimenting with design – but don’t know how to fully unleash its potential – or overlooking design as an untapped resource.

Sports is the cry of triumph, the tears of joy, the beating of chest when your team loses in nail biting crusade. Gathering up on streets in front of a TV, listening to the radio broadcast in a remote village or watching with your friends on a 52-inch screen - the euphoria with which the whole country cheers is unparalleled. A community lives its best experience when everyone is interacting under the same roof. And sports have the potential to provide such a platform.

Based on the unified arrangements of Shenzhen Municipal Government, Shenzhen is advancing the construction of the “New Top Ten Cultural Facilities”; wherein, Guoshen Museum (tentative name) has been determined to settle in the coastal area of Qianhai New City Center. The international tender for the architectural scheme of the project will be conducted soon for the relevant construction to be implemented.

One of the most beautiful Russian cities, the city of Kazan (Republic of Tatarstan, Russia), hosted a press conference at the launch of the Open International Architecture and Urban Planning Competition for the development of a master plan for the territory adjacent to the Almetyevsk Reservoir on the Stepnoy Zay river. Almetyevsk is an oil capital of the Republic of Tatarstan with the headquarter of PJSC TATNEFT, which is the 5th largest oil company in Russia. The press-conference took place on November 27, 2019 at the press center of the Tatar-inform news agency, one of the major media centers in Russia.

Archisource presents ‘Drawing of the Year 2019’. Our first competition celebrating the talent of architecture and design students and young professionals through a single drawing. With four categories to win from, we are celebrating the extensive variety of drawings that are created around the world each year.

By bringing together two contiguous non-constructible plots, Shelle and Xavier are lucky enough to have one of the last building land in the Croix Saint Jérôme sector in Noisy-sur-Ecole (Seine et Marne). This wooded area with its diffuse habitat borders the Massif des Trois Pignons, the western part of the particularly wild Fontainebleau forest. The rocky chaos, sandy stretches and vegetation that compose it once served as a backdrop for the Barbizon painters’ school. This massif is the most original natural area in the parisian basin and is an internationally renowned hiking and climbing destination.

The project curated by Luca Molinari Studio, opened to the public on the 28th of October in Suzhou at the Master of the Nets Garden. The curatorial project aims to create a place where best contemporary culture and the strongest tradition can dialogue.

Henning Larsen is proud to present It Begins with Curiosity, the studio’s first ever monograph after more than half a century at the forefront of Scandinavian architecture and urbanism.
