The 2023 Steel Design Student Competition will offer architecture students the opportunity to compete in two separate categories:

The modern workplace has evolved a lot over the past few decades, and the introduction of new technologies and the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic is set to completely change how we work even more in the future.

The challenges of the past few years have demonstrated the need for places for individuals in communities gather. The goal of this competition is to create a functional space within a community for gathering, play and shelter. A multi-functional building that can be used in a variety of ways is the overall goal. Think about how communities will gather in the future and design a building to meet these needs. Concrete masonry is an ideal choice for this type of building. It is durable and long-lasting, providing a pleasing aesthetic, and can be used for security and safety. Designs should identify multiple ways to take advantage of concrete masonry’s benefits to meet the needs of this new community center.

Prizes:
First Prize: An $8,000 scholarship to Norwich University ($2,000 per year for four years)
Second Prize: A $4,000 scholarship to Norwich University ($1,000 per year for four years)
Complete Entry Submission: A $2,000 scholarship to Norwich University ($500 per year for four years)

On display at the Casa da Arquitectura Gallery from June 4 to September 25, "The Reasons Offsite" offers an immersive experience through virtual reality. The exhibition focuses on modular and prefabricated architecture and was previously on display at the Boston Society of Architects' Salt Gallery (USA, March 2019), the Neufert Box in Weimar as part of the official Bauhaus Centenary program (Germany, September 2019), and the KÉK – Contemporary Architecture Centre in Budapest (Hungary, October 2019).

Held every two years, the World Urban Forum is the premier global conference on urbanization convened by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). It brings together a wide range of participants from around the world to discuss major urban challenges facing the world today.

Create.Connect.Amplify. presents stories of urgent and creative problem-solving, creates a place to talk about how designers’ and design's rigorous research and dedication to efficacy can address pressing problems of our current world, and shares inspiring stories of design's power to achieve radical and far-reaching change.

How do we reinterpret cultural relationships with water and the city? What is the importance of biodiversity and birdlife during moments of habitat change? How do we connect history—past, present, and future visions—to rethink our interactions with the Magdalena River basin? How are culture, art, and identity key to understanding our amphibious relationship? These are some of the questions that will be addressed at the first international symposium, Magdalena - Ribera en tránsito (Magdalena - Riverbank in Transit), which will take place from June 21 to 24 and on July 8 at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The Biennial Competition is an open call for projects and publications completed during the four years leading up to each edition of the Pan American Biennial of Architecture of Quito (BAQ).

CP Kukreja Architects is all set to open their exhibition ‘Five Decades of India’s Built Environment’ on June 24th at The Lalit in London, UK. Part of the London Festival of Architecture 2022 programme, the exhibition will take visitors on a journey through five decades of the evolution of India’s architectural landscape through the lens of the leading Indian architecture and design practice. By presenting a wide array of projects across timelines, the exhibit will deconstruct histories, present insights, and highlight bold, progressive architecture critical to the past, present and future of India and its people.

With over 20 years of practice, the architecture firm MMBB has been developing a precise and consistent body of work. From their extensive portfolio, characterized by a wide range of uses, scales, and typologies, as well as a strong emphasis on the public dimension of architecture, eight projects were selected by editor Guilherme Wisnik for the most recent publication dedicated to the firm: the Arquitetos da Cidade (City Architects) Collection – MMBB, a partnership between the Escola da Cidade publishing house and Edições Sesc São Paulo. Growarq Week is an event dedicated to architects, engineers, designers, and students looking to revolutionize their design process through a methodology that combines two software programs: Revit and Lumion. The event will take place from June 27 to 30 at 7:00 PM and will be held entirely online.

For an exhibition in urban space at the Angel of Peace in Munich, Germany - next to the Consulate General of Russian Federation - we exhibit with a small public intervention at the architecture week with the topic urban:live. We would like to make this space available to Ukranian architects, so that they can show how beautiful Ukranian cities were before the Russian invasion.
