CBCA Opens Registration for Architecture and Engineering Student Competitions with R$ 10,000 Prize

For the second consecutive year, MUTEK MX is officially launching its open call for artistic proposals for its 17th Edition, which will take place from November 23 to 29, 2020.

Following the success of the first edition of the "Jaime Lerner Scholarship" in 2021, IAAC, in collaboration with the Uruguayan firm Gómez Platero Arquitectura & Urbanismo, is launching the second edition of the Jaime Lerner Scholarships. This year, the scholarship is open to professionals from all Latin American countries to study our Online Master in Cities: The Next Urbanism for the 2022/2023 academic year. Through this initiative, the sponsors reinforce their commitment to supporting local architects in their efforts to specialize and effectively contribute to improving the cities in their respective countries.

We are honored to announce the 2020 IBRAMEM Timber Architecture Award, which aims to establish itself as a powerful tool for encouraging creative, high-quality projects in architecture, urbanism, engineering, and design using timber in Brazil and across Latin America.

Call for essays and graphic narratives reflecting on the architecture, engineering, and/or spaces that no longer exist in Mexico City, in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the fall of Mexico-Tenochtitlan.

This is a single-stage, open ideas competition. It is jointly organized by the Taller de Desarrollo Urbano (TaDU - Venezuela), the Peruvian Organization of Architecture Students (OPEA - Peru), and Más Ciudad Arq. (Peru). The competition is open to students and recent graduates (thesis students) of architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, design, or any related field. Teams of up to 5 people may be formed, with the option to include a maximum of one recent graduate or bachelor (thesis student) who has completed their university coursework within the last two years.

The EMPORIA award recognizes ephemeral projects across various sectors, including museums, exhibitions, trade fairs, retail spaces, festivals, sporting events, and conceptual or experimental architecture. The common denominator for all entries is that the architectural work must be ephemeral.

Since 2016, Lima has hosted the International Forum on Urban Interventions, which aims to highlight citizen-led initiatives implementing small-scale urban interventions. These initiatives seek to improve the quality of life in public spaces, offer solutions to various challenges, and encourage other citizens to initiate their own projects.

NEAUMA is launching an artistic competition centered on the creation of a tile.

The National Fund for the Arts (Fondo Nacional de las Artes) is calling for entries for the 2019 Heritage Competition. The initiative aims to support processes of valorization and revitalization, establishing the necessary conditions for Argentina's cultural heritage to thrive and yield new results in the future. Submissions will be accepted until Thursday, May 30, 2019.

A meeting space for architecture, culture, and innovation.

The exhibition The Vienna Model - housing for the twenty-first-century city opens on Thursday, May 5, at the Official College of Architects of Madrid (COAM). The exhibition is organized as part of the AHA (Affordable Housing Activation) UIA International Forum 2022.

April 20, 2022, marked the 150th anniversary of Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna taking office as Intendant of Santiago and proposing the challenge of its transformation. Two weeks later, on Wednesday, May 4, the opening of this temporary exhibition commemorating such a unique initiative took place.

'Unusual Architectures: "Other" Experiences in the Architecture and Urbanism of Santiago de Chile (1950–2020)' is an exhibition of city representation and photography. It showcases a collection of objects and cases from Santiago, a capital that increasingly presents itself as a casual, uncontrolled, and contingent accumulation of matter and experience—an expression of the "other" and the unfathomable.

The Atraviesos Urbanos (Urban Crossings), organized by the School of Architecture at Universidad Finis Terrae, consist of four walking tours through different sectors of the capital during the first semester of 2022. Each tour is led by an architecture faculty member who discusses the history and heritage value of each site for an audience of students, faculty, and the general public interested in learning more about the city.

This upcoming session, titled "From Plaza de Armas to the General Cemetery," will take place on Monday, May 16, at 3:00 PM. The route begins at kilometer 0 in Plaza de Armas, continuing through the Central Market, the Mapocho River, the Pérgola de las Flores, and Avenida La Paz, ending at the cemetery. The tour will be led by academic Max Palma.

Within the academic dialogue and reflection space 'Del territorio al Detalle,' which brings together architecture professors and students alongside renowned architects, the spin-off 'Del territorio al detalle .re' explores, through informal conversations with key stakeholders, the thesis that a territory's richness stems from its capacity for renewal, activating its own disused spaces to transform them into challenges and resources.
