PALIMPSEST. Erased City [1521-2021]

Call for essays and graphic narratives reflecting on the architecture, engineering, and/or spaces that no longer exist in Mexico City, in commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the fall of Mexico-Tenochtitlan.

A palimpsest—from the Ancient Greek for "scraped clean"—is a manuscript that preserves traces of earlier writing on the same surface, intentionally erased to make way for what exists today. Much like a palimpsest, the city and its history are a superposition of layers, one atop another, where the latest version obscures the one that came before.
