Conversation with artist Ana Holck and curator Felipe Scovino at the Paço Imperial

On March 2 at 4:00 PM, a free public talk will be held with artist Ana Holck and curator Felipe Scovino at the "Entroncados, Enroscados e Estirados" exhibition at the Paço Imperial. The event will also feature the launch of the exhibition's 37-page e-book catalog, which includes text by the curator and photographs of the installation and artworks, designed by Estúdio Afluente. The catalog will be available for free viewing on the artist's new website: www.anaholck.com, which also launches on Saturday.

From Mars to Earth: J. P. Duarte's talks in Chile

José Pinto Duarte, leader of the finalist team for the NASA Mars Habitat Challenge, will be in Chile from March 12 to 14 to deliver lectures in Santiago and Concepción.

Currently focused on developing new housing solutions using 3D-printed construction, drawing on the experience gained from the space competition, Dr. Pinto Duarte—a faculty member at Penn State University and former researcher at MIT—will deliver two lectures. He will also engage with national teams implementing this technology in the country and visit local companies currently industrializing residential construction.

Exhibition - The Construction of the Profession

The "A Construção da Profissão" (The Construction of the Profession) project was coordinated and executed by the Institute of Architects of Brazil, Federal District Department (IAB.DF), with sponsorship from the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of the Federal District (CAU/DF) and support from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Brasília (FAU/UnB).

The Basque Institute of Architecture has inaugurated its first exhibition of 2024: 'Arboretum. Trees as Architecture.' The exhibition arrives as a traveling show from the Arc en Rêve Centre d'Architecture (Bordeaux), where it was first presented in September 2021, with the aim of reaffirming the architectural character of trees and highlighting how they have been a subject of architectural reflection.

Workshop NBR9050: Accessibility and Inclusion

The NBR9050: Accessibility and Inclusion Workshop is a project carried out in partnership with Maitá ATHIS and funded by the Council of Architecture and Urbanism (CAU). It aims to train architecture and urban planning professionals to apply NBR 9050 and 16537 standards through theoretical and practical activities. These activities contextualize these regulations within the promotion of fundamental rights, in accordance with the CAU Code of Ethics, which seeks to ensure that human needs regarding functionality, cost-effectiveness, durability, comfort, hygiene, and accessibility in the built environment are met.

Art Direction and Scenography

We will conclude our IAB-RJ Compartilha summer season with the Art Direction and Scenography course, taught by architect and urban planner Paulo Flaksman.

World Habitat Awards: Open Call

This annual competition, organized since 1986 by World Habitat in partnership with UN-Habitat, recognizes responses to global challenges in the field of housing and habitat.

Exploring memory and architecture: JBMC Arquitetura e Urbanismo and CAU/SP host a lecture at the historic Clotilde and Sérgio Ferreira Residence

On March 16, architect João Batista Martinez Corrêa, founder of JBMC Arquitetura e Urbanismo, will host a lecture at the new regional headquarters of the Council of Architecture and Urbanism of São Paulo (CAU/SP). The office is located in the former "Clotilde and Sérgio Ferreira Residence," a historic property recently landmarked by the Ribeirão Preto Municipal Council for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage. For many years, the house was home to university professor Maria Clotilde Rossetti and biologist Sérgio Henrique Ferreira, who was renowned for his discovery of the bradykinin-potentiating factor.

In the exhibition DOMINIO: An Unfinished Visual Archive of Architectural Extractivism, on view in the Newmark Gallery at Art Omi from March 21–May 31, 2026, architectural photographer Onnis Luque traces these often-invisible origins of construction back to the raw landscapes from which they are born.
