The Oris Day architectural symposium takes place on Sunday, 8 November 2026, in Zagreb, at the Mozaik Event Centre.
The central programme will bring together this year's Pritzker Prize laureate Smiljan Radić Clarke and Swiss architect Christian Kerez. The audience will have the opportunity to follow their conversation live – a dialogue between two distinguished architects about architecture, the creative process and contemporary challenges facing the profession.
In addition to this conversation, three successful Croatian architectural practices featured in the New Perspectives exhibition, which marked the 11th anniversary of Oris House of Architecture, will also give lectures: NEKOLIKO, Krešimir Damjanović and SKUP-A.
The conversation and lectures will be moderated by Mia Roth Čerina, Vedran Mimica, Maroje Mrduljaš and Dinko Peračić.

The Community of Madrid and the Leganés City Council have launched an urban planning project competition to solicit the best planning proposals for the sustainable and innovative development of the new "Puerta de Madrid" neighborhood, which borders the established Leganés Norte neighborhood to the north and east. This urban development will be managed through a consortium involving both administrations.

Community of Madrid, (Madrid's Regional Government) and the City Council of Leganés have launched an urban planning design contest aimed at obtaining the best planning proposals for the sustainable and innovative development of the new "Puerta de Madrid" district, located adjacent to the north and east of the established Leganés Norte neighbourhood. This urban development will be managed through a consortium in which both public administrations will participate.
The area features the Butarque Stream as its main environmental structuring element, that connects with other natural areas through the Arco Verde and Bosque Metropolitano ecological corridors.
Covering more than one million square metres, this development will allocate approximately 40% of its surface area to green spaces and public open areas, while the remaining 60% will be dedicated to public facilities, tertiary uses and residential use.
Approximately 4,000 dwellings are planned within the new district. Of these, around 1,500 will be market-rate homes of various typologies, while 2,500 units will be delivered through public housing schemes or affordable rental programmes.
The selected proposals must be fully integrated into the wider urban context and will incorporate advanced criteria in the fields of environmental sustainability, urban innovation, energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, climate resilience and social cohesion.
A specialised jury will evaluate the submissions and select the three best proposals. Subsequently, through a procurement procedure, the winning teams will be eligible to compete for the award of a service contract for drafting the planning instrument that will define the urban development framework of the future district.

For this issue of Dearq “Architectures that Linger”, we are seeking contributions that propose distinctive ways of understanding architecture’s measured relationship to scale, time, and resources, while reclaiming spatial experience as a core value.

Presented as part of the OFF Programme of the 2026 Dakar Biennale and Partcours, Palimpsest of African Cities is the latest edition of the DIG WHERE YOU STAND programme initiated by the African Artists' Foundation and taking place in several venues in Dakar, Senegal, from the 20th of November 2026 to the 28th of February 2027.

On November 16, the call for entries opened for the 6th edition of the Citizen Festival of Urban Interventions, which invites the residents of Santiago to carry out various initiatives, including music, performance, theater, installations, dance, workshops, and games in public spaces.

The VAAD HAJINUJ Educational Corporation, the central body for Jewish education in Chile, invites Chilean and foreign architects (based in Chile) to submit architectural proposals for the new Instituto Hebreo building. The site is located at Chesterton No. 8630 in the Las Condes district, which is part of the current grounds of the Estadio Israelita Maccabi (EIM).

The objective of this competition, sponsored by the Colegio de Arquitectos and the Association of Architectural Offices (AOA), is to obtain an architectural response that is well-suited to the functional and spatial needs of the Instituto Hebreo’s program, as well as the urban and environmental requirements inherent to its site and the building's institutional character.

Registration for the 63rd IAB RJ Awards 2025 is now open, with a deadline of November 2. IAB members in good standing are entitled to one free entry. Additional entries are subject to a fee of R$ 105. Registration must be completed via the online form available on the Department’s website.

The Institute of Architects of Brazil (IAB), in partnership with the Urban95 initiative, announces the opening of registration and proposal submissions for the National Public Ideas Competition for Urban Furniture focused on Early Childhood in the City of Salvador. The competition will gather ideas from architecture and urban planning professionals from across Brazil.
