The public—building managers, condominium administrators, residents, and other interested parties—was also able to submit nominations online. All nominations were reviewed by the CAU/DF Temporary Heritage Commission between August and early November, resulting in the selection of 30 buildings that stood out for their historical value, the well-maintained state of their facades, outdoor areas, pilotis, and other analytical criteria.

On Wednesday, April 28, Carolina Tobler will present the 1972 competition for the remodeling of downtown Santiago as one of the last and clearest examples in Chile of a commitment to the architectural megaproject over urban planning. Anton zu Knyphausen will present the dismantling of professional guild structures as a moment of discontinuity in the discourse of Chilean architecture and the role the profession sought to play in urban development.

The research platform Justicia Espacial is organizing this virtual discussion to address and prioritize urgent and relevant topics concerning spatial justice and gender.

How was the lighting design for the 34th Bienal developed? Light is something we see all the time, yet little is commonly known about what happens in practice. This course aims to address key issues in lighting design through the illumination of the 34th Bienal de São Paulo: Faz escuro mas eu canto.

To mark the opening of the exhibition, architects Bettina Götz and Richard Manahl of the Austrian firm ARTEC, along with architect and Professor of Architectural Theory and History Josep Maria Montaner, will deliver an inaugural talk on Thursday, July 15, at 5:00 PM, followed by an open discussion with the speakers.

A sustainable, reforested timber pavilion featuring 24 photographic and typographic panels will be installed in the heart of Praça Mauá from September 8 to October 17. The exhibition, Future Now – Revisiting Earth Architecture, offers new perspectives on the challenges of contemporary architecture and addresses urgent global issues. The showcase provides an architectural experience that bridges the latest in high-tech innovation with one of the oldest building materials—earth (such as clay and mud)—and its contemporary applications.

The 3rd National Congress for the Safeguarding of Cultural Heritage - CICOP Brazil 2021 is organized by the Architecture and Urbanism program at the Federal Institute of São Paulo (IFSP), São Paulo Campus, and the Department of History at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP).
