Feminist Perspectives on Spatial Practices

In Portuguese architecture, the quest to understand the slow integration of women into the profession is a recent discussion. However, debates regarding Women in Architecture or the relationship between feminism and architecture began at least in the 1970s and extend beyond women's rights. They have materialized through meetings, literature, and individual and collective paths that contribute to the theoretical and practical transformation of architecture.

The three invited architects, Gabriela Salhes and Lia Antunes, have built their careers across different areas of architectural practice. We will attempt to contextualize common concerns regarding the role of women in the future of architecture by focusing on the most concrete aspects: the forms, means, participants, and objectives of their work. As a prologue, we will screen the film ILLUSIONS, Vol. I Narcissus and Echo by visual artist Grada Kilomba, to whom we extend our gratitude for her generosity.
