Wood Week 2018

Architecture, design, engineering, and innovation in wood take center stage at Wood Week 2018, where more than 100 projects from across Chile and Latin America will be presented to the jury. This showcase, which highlights wood in all its forms, will feature new regional ventures from Arica to Punta Arenas, as well as celebrate the work of female artisans who craft this noble material.

From August 8 to 12, the event will be held at the Gabriela Mistral Cultural Center (GAM), where the four traditional competitions will each have their own dedicated space. The exhibitions of the competing projects will run simultaneously, allowing entrepreneurs and families to freely explore all the wood displays and engage with the creators. Furthermore, the public will be able to vote online for their favorites at www.madera21.cl, with special recognition awarded to the winning teams.

The world urgently needs to become more sustainable, and Wood Week has a significant responsibility in this regard, helping to foster a culture that encompasses everything from forest conservation to the consumption of current and future products. In this sense, the use of wood in construction is key to the sustainable development of this economic sector.
