The engineering and transport infrastructure department, through the CITETRANS research group at the University of Oviedo, is launching its seventh international student ideas competition to solicit proposals for resolving a transport network issue, titled "Mieres Campus Reload."

Casa Cristo, designed by architect Luis Barragán in 1929, will host the exhibition "Reflejos de Zohn: Guadalajara en edificios e imágenes" (Reflections of Zohn: Guadalajara in Buildings and Images). The exhibition will open on February 1st as part of Guadalajara Art Week.
Curated by Mimi Zeiger and the curatorial duo Tony Macarena (Lorena Canales and Alejandro Olávarri), the exhibition uses images and objects to articulate the legacy of Mexican-Austrian architect and engineer Alejandro Zohn (1930–2000), whose impact on Guadalajara’s civic and commercial architecture spanned from the 1950s to the 1990s.

The Latin American and European Conference on Sustainable Buildings and Communities (EuroELECS) is an innovative scientific event that promotes discussion on sustainability in the built environment, connecting Brazil, Latin America, and Europe. Nara Roesler Rio de Janeiro is pleased to invite you to the opening of the exhibition "Between the Sea, the River, and the Stone" on February 11, 2025, at 6:00 PM. The exhibition features works by Pernambuco-based artist Marcelo Silveira in his first solo show in the city. The works will occupy the ground floor and the double-height wall beneath the skylight at Nara Roesler Rio de Janeiro, offering the public a comprehensive look at the artist's production, who has established himself as a major figure in the contemporary scene over his 40-year career. On the day of the opening, at 7:00 PM, there will be a guided tour of the exhibition with Marcelo Silveira and Daniela Name, author of the critical text.

More than just a shaft dug into the earth to fetch water, these are entire buildings that descend several stories below ground; they are spaces to be entered and occupied, serving functional, social, and ritual purposes. Often, they are as monumental and ornate as a church, and this is intentional. They are a source of water, a gathering space, and a temple all at once, but instead of rising into the sky, they descend below the surface. They create a spatial experience unlike any other, in which one is below ground but remains connected to the sun and sky. Today they lie largely abandoned and overlooked, in various states of preservation or, more often, disrepair.
