Buildner, in collaboration with the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and Dubai Government, has officially launched the Dubai Urban Elements Design Challenge, an international architecture and urban design competition featuring an impressive total prize fund of €500,000. The competition invites architects, designers, urban planners, and visionaries from around the world to propose innovative, human-scale urban elements that will help define Dubai's evolving identity.

Some say that architecture and urban planning practices in the 20th century led to the creation of Hip-Hop. This class will examine that theory further and analyze the genre's art form and influence. It will challenge those who work (or aspire to work) in architecture and city planning and push them to approach their practice more ethically.

Buildner has released the results of the Morocco Oasis Retreat Competition, an international design challenge inviting architects, designers, and urbanists to envision a self-sustaining oasis in the Moroccan desert. Participants were tasked with designing an architectural intervention that responds to the region's extreme climate, integrating shelter, water conservation strategies, and energy-efficient design.
The competition encouraged exploration of how architecture can support resilience in remote environments while drawing from both traditional building techniques and modern sustainability principles. Entrants had the flexibility to determine the scale and purpose of their projects. Key considerations included passive cooling strategies, resource management, and integration with the desert landscape. The competition highlights the role of architecture in creating functional and sustainable spaces in challenging environments. Full details on the winning projects are available on the Morocco Oasis Retreat Competition website.

In the Port of Hamburg, the "FiftyNine" rises as a 16-story residential tower that combines elegance and technical sophistication to withstand the demanding weather conditions of the harbor. Here, 60 floor-to-ceiling air-lux sliding windows have been installed – with impressive dimensions of up to 5400 x 3085 mm. Thanks to the innovative, air-assisted sealing system, they withstand heavy driving rain, intense wind loads, and high noise pollution.

Território Liberdade Workshop - Erasures and Migrations
Registration is now open for the Território Liberdade workshop, a research-based activity organized by the cultural association Goma Oficina, taking place in downtown São Paulo throughout April and May 2025. The workshop will introduce a methodology for engaging with the Liberdade neighborhood and its surroundings, exploring the intersections of photography, cartography, and the historical erasures caused by structural racism.

How do buildings establish and engage with territories? How do temporalities manifest themselves in buildings? How do architects deal with multiple temporalities and territorialities? How do buildings live and die?

In the world of urbanization, space is becoming a scarce commodity. Cities are bursting at the seams, with limited space for both private and public development. This creates a need for a shift towards more efficient urban planning that would combine aesthetic design with high functionality. MPSystem robotic parking offers the perfect solution by combining function and architectural design freedom.

Experimental films, polaroids, “film objects,” and previously unseen works by the Rio de Janeiro-based visual artist will occupy the Cavalariças starting March 28.
The solo exhibition brings together a collection of works in various formats, curated by André Sheik, tracing the artist’s experiences, concerns, travels, and friendships.

On March 19 at 4:00 PM, the next edition of Tech Talks will take place, an event promoting discussions on innovation within the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sector. Hosted by the Polytechnic School of ATITUS Educação, the gathering will bring together experts to explore how technology drives new creative and design possibilities.

The “FROM TRASH TO TREASURE: Recycling” project returns for its second edition at Galeria Metara.
This event, which focuses on sustainability and environmental awareness, will feature an exhibition of works by Susi Sielski Cantarino and Osvaldo Gaia, alongside paintings produced during workshops.

The program’s third edition will be led by DJ GrandMaster Raphael, a pioneer of funk parties, joined by MC Cidinho, MC Mascote, MC Cacau, and Duda do Borel.

The activation is based on the work “Só por es-tar” [Just to Be] by the São Paulo-based visual artist and poet, which is part of a group exhibition inspired by a book by South Korean philosopher Byung-Chul Han.
