The New Generations Festival is an annual event that brings together emerging architecture practices and professionals from various fields, creating a space for contemplation and analysis of the architecture profession. New Urban Challenges will take place this December 16th, 17th, and 18th, 2020. All the activities will be transmitted online via the New Generations media platform from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome.

In 2021, as part of a collaboration between Mexican firms LEGORRETA and Taller Mauricio Rocha + Gabriela Carrillo, ground will be broken for the new Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo in Mexico. The new facility will sit on 800 hectares of Pacific Ocean coastline in the state of Jalisco, between La Manzanilla and Barra de Navidad. The area, called "Costa Alegre" or "Joyful Coast," is renowned for its private beaches, landscape, and geography.
The Bamboo Pavilion, a project designed by Mexican architect Lucila Aguilar as part of Design Week 2020, is inspired by the search for spaces that connect directly with the earth. It consists of a series of bamboo structures that create a new space in the plaza of the 'Espacio CDMX' gallery. The pavilion's shape follows the flow of organic forms, combined with a 100% biodegradable, permeable material made in Mérida from natural rubber.

As one of the most highly anticipated architectural events nationally and internationally, this edition features a robust program of 28 panel discussions, 4 keynote lectures, 4 interviews, and other exclusive content accessible via the microsite designed for the event. Additionally, a broad cultural program includes interventions in eight buildings and two exhibitions.
On Thursday, November 5, Mexico City saw the inauguration of a new section of Plaza Satélite—a shopping center originally opened in 1971, where renovation and expansion work began two years ago to adapt to new ways of using and experiencing space. Designed by the Mexican firm Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, the Parque Plaza Satélite project continues this expansion, establishing a new vision for retail where commerce serves as a vehicle to create green, open-air spaces for the community.

Rojkind Arquitectos + AmasA Estudio present a new project on a site named "Tres Cerritos" in Valle de Guadalupe, part of the wine route in the Francisco Zarco district of Ensenada, Baja California. The project arises from an understanding of nature's value and its historical use as a sanctuary and refuge, creating a hospitality concept that reconnects the visitor with the environment.

With over 30 years of history, this year’s edition will bring together representatives from 14 countries to showcase 312 national and international projects, including 125 professional and 187 student entries.
