Shodair Children's Hospital in Helena, Montana, has recently completed a major expansion to improve its pediatric behavioral healthcare services. The project includes a new three-story facility covering approximately 134,000 square feet, with 82 individual patient rooms, therapeutic spaces and modern amenities designed to provide a safe and supportive environment for children and adolescents.
Designed by SMA Architecture + Design, the hospital focuses on openness and natural light, with numerous large windows and vibrant colors to create a welcoming atmosphere. The facility features flexible spaces, including the "Hope Space," a dedicated area designed to inspire and comfort patients.
Longboard Aluminum Cladding
The hospital’s exterior features Longboard's 6-inch V-Groove aluminum planks, used as cladding to enhance both aesthetics and durability. The finishes applied include Light Cherry, Slate Grey, Venus, Medium Blue and a custom blue, contributing to the building's vibrant and calming look.
