More about this product

Located on Mull Island, Scotland, the Cherry Trees residence is a contemporary cottage constructed using structural timber elements. The superstructure, including a staircase, was created using Egoin's cross laminated timber (CLT) panels. CLT was chosen for its ease of installation, airtightness, thermal performance, and ability to accommodate complex design geometries - all critical points for construction in harsh northern weather.

Cherry Trees Residential Project Cherry Trees Residential Project

The use of Egoin's CLT and glulam components made the construction time significantly quicker and reduced on-site disruption, allowing the building to be completed in under two weeks. CLT and glulam are significantly lighter than concrete, which minimizes heavy vehicle deliveries during construction, resulting in reduced carbon emissions. The Cherry Trees site saw a notable reduction in vehicle movements during the superstructure phase, enhancing site efficiency.

The exposed CLT elements within the interior contribute to a warm ambiance that complements Mull's natural landscape, enhancing visual appeal and fostering a connection with nature. Cherry Trees highlights the efficiency and sustainability of Egoin's CLT and glulam products. Prioritizing functionality and environmental considerations, this project showcases a modern construction approach that blends with its surroundings.
