Laminated Timber Elements in Barcelona Building | Egoin

The Cornellà Impsol residential project follows the growing prominence of structural timber construction in urban developments and the presence of specialized manufacturers as Egoin. Located in Cornellà, Barcelona, this residential building reaches a height of 21 meters, comprising five stories for a total of 85 social rental flats. Erected on the site of a former cinema, the design of this residential building is characterized by its innovative layout, featuring a matrix of 108 interconnected timber spaces. This unique design eliminates private and common corridors, maximizing the utilization of space and creating a dynamic living environment.

The project utilized a considerable amount of timber: 2,100 cubic meters of cross laminated timber (CLT) manufactured entirely by Egoin, underscoring the increasing significance of timber in the construction sector. With an approximate built area of 13,000 square meters, Cornellà Impsol is a display of timber's growing prominence in contemporary construction practices. Notably, it stands as the largest residential building erected in its environment to date.
