The castle at Bodrum received a new theatre clad using a wood veneer profile façade system from Technowood
Bodrum Castle Theater is a renovation of an existing open-air stage. When a request by the first project to increase the audience capacity was not approved by the Council for the Protection of Cultural Heritage, a second project was carried out with the contours and elevations of the existing building preserved. The building is designed as a steel structure with an above-ground-foundation since it is located on an archaeological site. The contrast between the wooden lamellae used on the stage front and the fortification walls was created to emphasize the temporality of the new construction.
Solid wood has become fashionable in construction however it is subject to aging from time and environmental factors causing deformations.
