Sky-Frame Pocket is a feature for the frameless Sky-Frame sliding system in which the opened panels slide completely into the wall and are hidden from sight, leaving no visible glass leaves in the opening. When the panels are parked inside the wall, the opening is cleared entirely and the interior connects to the outside without any visible glass or frame in the reveal.
Construction
A recess in the wall is planned alongside the opening and coordinated with the surrounding construction during design. The sliding panels retain the frameless Sky-Frame appearance and the same perimeter sections in aluminium and glass-fibre-reinforced plastic as the base system. The depth of the recess and the parking position are set to the number and width of the sliding panels, so the full stack is accommodated inside the wall and no panel remains in the reveal. Within the modular Sky-Frame system, Pocket is one of the features added to a base configuration of the system, glazing technology and track option.
Glazing technologies
Pocket rides on the base system and its glazing technology, Sky-Frame 2 (30 mm double glazing) or Sky-Frame 3 (54 mm triple glazing). Thermal, watertightness, wind load and sound insulation values follow the selected base technology and are documented on request.
System compatibility
Pocket is standard with the Classic system and can be combined with the Plain track option. It is available with Arc only in combination with the Original track option and with Slope on request; it is not offered with Pivot. Pocket can be combined with Drive and is compatible with the hurricane-rated version.
Applications
Typical applications are residential projects in which a living space and a terrace are joined into one room, as well as hospitality and commercial buildings, where a facade opening to a terrace, garden or balcony is to be cleared without a visible frame remaining in the opening. Because the glass disappears entirely, the feature is used where the open state of the facade is as important to the design as the closed one.
Colours and manufacture
Seven anodised finishes are supplied as standard: the colourless E6/EV1 and six chemically mattened Colinal tones. Further anodised colours are available on request, as is powder coating in the RAL, IGP and DB colour systems, applied in-house to the Qualicoat standard. All components are developed and manufactured in Switzerland; more than 15,000 projects have been realised since 2002.
