Sky-Frame Guard is a security feature that adds burglar resistance to the frameless Sky-Frame sliding system. It combines a structural bond between the glass and the frame with a multipoint locking system and can be extended with additional security components, while keeping the slim, frameless appearance of the standard system.
Construction
Burglar resistance is achieved through an adhesive bond between the insulating glass assembly and the glass-fibre-reinforced plastic sections, supported by a multipoint locking system. The bond and the locking work together so that the additional resistance is achieved within the frame profile, without a visibly heavier construction. Laminated safety glass and further security hardware can be added, are selected according to the required resistance class and stay concealed within the frame. Within the modular Sky-Frame system, Guard is one of the features added to a base configuration of system, glazing technology and track option.

Monitoring
Electronic sensors can monitor the system and transmit its status to an intruder alarm system: position monitoring of the leaf, deadbolt monitoring of the lock and a glass breakage sensor in an alarm loop. The three signals can be combined and connected to a building alarm system, so the sliding front is integrated into the overall security concept of the project. The alarm sensors are concealed within the section and are not visible on the glass front.
System compatibility
Guard is standard with the Classic system and available with Arc, Slope and Pivot on request. It works with the Sky-Frame 2 and Sky-Frame 3 technologies, whose thermal and acoustic values are retained.
Applications
Typical applications are ground-floor and accessible sliding fronts in residential architecture as well as hospitality and commercial buildings, where facade openings to terraces, gardens and balconies require additional burglar resistance. The security build-up is specified per opening, so only the exposed fronts of a project carry the added resistance.
Colours and manufacture
Seven anodised finishes are supplied as standard: the colourless E6/EV1 and six chemically mattened Colinal tones. Further anodised colours are available on request, as is powder coating in the RAL, IGP and DB colour systems, applied in-house to the Qualicoat standard. All components are developed and manufactured in Switzerland; more than 15,000 projects have been realised since 2002.
