Sky-Frame Classic is a frameless sliding window and door system for glass fronts. It was the first system developed by the Swiss manufacturer Sky-Frame and forms the basis of the product range. System, track option, glazing technology and features are configured per project.
Construction
The sliding units consist of insulating glass with perimeter sections in aluminium and glass-fibre-reinforced plastic. They run in slim aluminium frames fitted flush with the floor and the ceiling, so the profiles remain concealed within the building structure and the glass extends from floor to ceiling. A daylight-to-glass ratio of 98 per cent keeps visible frame surfaces to a minimum. Drainage runs either through a recessed channel or beneath a raised outdoor floor covering, keeping the threshold level.

- Sky-Frame 2 reaches watertightness to driving rain of class E750 and wind load resistance of class C3. Sky-Frame 3 reaches class E900 and class C5 and is certified to the Minergie-P standard.

Opening layouts
Opening layouts include side, centre, and corner openings without a fixed post. Multi-track configurations allow several panels to run in parallel.
Features
Classic serves as the platform for the Sky-Frame feature range: an electric drive for up to 3+3 sliding panels, a concealed pleated insect screen with an element width of up to 1 m (40"), switchable glass, burglar-resistant hardware tested to RC 2 by ift Rosenheim (up to RC 4 with PAS 24 on request), pocket solutions that hide the open panels inside the wall and a 30 mm (1 3/16") post for adjoining fixed glazing. With the Original track option, Classic is also available as a hurricane-rated version compliant with the High Velocity Hurricane Zone criteria of the Florida Building Code, and as a bullet-resistant version rated FB4 NS by the Swiss Federal Office for Defence Procurement.
Colours and manufacture
Seven anodised finishes are supplied as standard: the colourless E6/EV1 and six chemically mattened Colinal tones. Further anodised colours are available on request, as is powder coating in the RAL, IGP and DB colour systems, applied in-house to the Qualicoat standard. All components are developed and manufactured in Switzerland; more than 15,000 projects have been realised since 2002.
