The work of Álvaro Siza is revisited through the lens of Pedro Cardigo, who returns to the black-and-white origins of early architectural publications, evoking “the wise, correct, and magnificent play of volumes assembled under the light”—as Le Corbusier would say. Step by step, both seek this light in silence, patiently revealing the (un)expected, the never-before-seen framing, the architect's precise vision, and the photographer's emotional record, or vice versa. The discovery of L'Architecture d'Aujourd'Hui in the early 1950s had a profound impact on Siza, instantly triggering the conception of his seminal works, like snapshots.

Nara Roesler São Paulo is pleased to present the exhibition "Habitar Juntos" (Living Together), opening on February 24, 2024, from 11 am to 3 pm. The show features new, previously unseen works produced in Brazil by artist Carlos Bunga, who was born in 1976 in Porto, Portugal, and currently lives and works near Barcelona, Spain. Accompanied by a text from Ivo Mesquita, the exhibition highlights key elements of the artist's research, which for over 20 years has centered on expanded painting, drawing close connections with architecture, installation, video, and performance. On the opening day, Carlos Bunga will lead a guided tour of the exhibition at 1 pm. He will arrive in São Paulo on February 14 to install his works.

Launch Event: Rogelio Salmona Latin American Architecture Award 2024

The launch of the 2024 Rogelio Salmona Latin American Architecture Prize will take place on Thursday, February 29.

Convinced of the need to contribute to the construction of inclusive and equitable cities in Latin America, the Rogelio Salmona Foundation established the 'Rogelio Salmona Latin American Architecture Prize: Open Spaces / Collective Spaces' in 2011. The prize recognizes architectural works that create significant civic spaces with a sense of place, contributing to the development of more livable cities.

Fullgás - Visual Arts and the 1980s in Brazil

The major exhibition "Fullgás – Visual Arts and the 1980s in Brazil" will open on October 2, 2024, at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil Rio de Janeiro (CCBB RJ), as part of the center's 35th-anniversary celebrations. With Raphael Fonseca as chief curator and Amanda Tavares and Tálisson Melo as associate curators, this unprecedented exhibition will feature approximately 300 works by more than 200 artists from all regions of the country, offering a broad panorama of Brazilian art in the 1980s. The exhibition is complemented by elements of the visual culture of the era, such as magazines, pamphlets, record covers, and iconic objects, which deepen the reflection on the period. The exhibition design is by architect Juliana Godoy.

To observe and document how people navigate the streets of the peripheries—including gender differences and street design—the Semana do Caminhar - Perifa a Pé [Walking Week - Periphery on Foot] has launched the #PerifaAPé Gallery challenge, running until August 10th on social media. ArquiMemória 6 – International Meeting on the Preservation of Built Heritage is undoubtedly the largest and most significant forum for debate on the preservation of built heritage held in Brazil.
