Plan view of the “Architecture of Shells” exhibition
How can a building of architecture grow? The clue to the answer might be found in the shells of molluscs.
The exhibition displays 400 and more kinds of shell specimens collected from all over the world. Within the exhibition, there are 150 sectioned specimens that are open to the public, which is an unprecedented initiative. Shells act as enclosures that the molluscs themselves build and they are based on the construction principles of growth. Sectioned specimens of shells reveal that amazing inner structure. One can explain the growth of shells using two principles: equiangular spiral and accretionary growth. The equiangular
August Komendant (1906–1992) was an Estonian-American structural engineer, whose collaboration with famous architects and engineers resulted in several 20th-century architectural masterpieces. His professional career spanned more than half a century from the 1930s to 1980s and coincided with an era characterised by modernisation, urbanisation and the rapid development of technology.
Concrete By the middle of the century, reinforced concrete had become one of the most popular structural materials for building a new living environment. A strong and durable composite emerges when liquid concrete, a mix of water, cement and aggregate (sand, gravel, crushed stone, etc.), solidifies around the reinforcing steel bars. Concrete

In the book, de Pizan describes her visitation by three female Virtues, Reason, Rectitude and Justice, who commission her with the construction of an imaginary city inhabited solely by women. Conflating the act of writing a book
Chicago presents itself as a broad-shouldered, cold-surfaced, and vascular city plopped in the heart of the American Midwest. All seemingly brought back into scale by its various public transportation and infrastructural systems. Within the confines of the crevasses of the bustling metropolis goes the unseen networks; whether they be physical, non-physical, or emotional habits that the new generation of live/workforce is tuned to.
Using the city of Chicago as a vehicle of architectural speculation and representative form, the city is recognized as a dense set of layers considering both the individuals and their physical-emotional makeup,

John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design Launches New Gallery with Inaugural Installation: NEW CIRCADIA (adventures in mental spelunking)
New Circadia transforms the Daniels Faculty’s new 3,000-square-metre Gallery into a metaphoric cave – a soft utopia designed as an antidote to our technologically-infused lives.
Have our tech-infused lives caused us to forget the benefits and pleasures of losing ourselves in states of repose and reverie?
The Daniels Faculty is pleased to launch the Architecture and Design Gallery, a unique, experimental space — the only gallery of its kind in Toronto — located in the lower level of the
The 1930s were a pivotal decade for British avantgarde architecture. Despite the relative paucity of modernist buildings being commissioned, by 1937 the country had, for a brief moment, become the epicentre of progressive contemporary architecture in Europe.
This exhibition revisits the impact of three notable Bauhaus émigrés: Walter Gropius, Marcel Breuer and László Moholy-Nagy. Centred on the brief period of 1934-37, when they came to live and work in Britain, it traces this fertile moment in British architectural history and considers where its legacy has had the most enduring impact.

Marking the centenary of the Bauhaus’s founding, the Bauhaus-Archiv / Museum für Gestaltung’s exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie is presenting famous, familiar and forgotten Bauhaus originals and recounting the history behind the objects: Who is the woman sitting on the tubular-steel chair? Does the Haus am Horn have a secret twin? Why have the tea infusers which were created as prototypes for industrial production always remained one-of-a-kind pieces? The exhibition sheds light on how unique work and series, remake and original are inseparably linked in the history of the Bauhaus. Around 1,000 Bauhaus originals from the Bauhaus-Archiv’s collection will be on display,
The project presents a collection of buildings and building systems significant in the historical evolution of modular and prefabricated architecture. The contents are shown in a virtual reality environment, through VR headset kits, which transport the audience to a 20x20m virtual space filled with panels and architectural models.
The goal is to picture several stages of this evolution. Examples of different buildings are shown, from the 17th century to the present, from anonymous architecture to Jean Prouvé, Walter Gropius, Buckminster Fuller, Shigeru Ban and MVRDV.
“The Reasons Offsite” intends to point out conflicts between prefab building systems and traditional ones. Standardization vs.
The Legacy of Architectural Modernism in Victoria (1945 - 1970)
1948-1970 were boom years for Victoria, not equalled until the most recent decade. The Province’s resource-based economy expanded rapidly, followed by investments in jobs and infrastructure.
Over this short period Victoria changed as its rural hinterland gave way to suburbia, Victorian and Edwardian neighbourhoods sprouted high-rise towers and multi-storey walk-ups, and plate-glass replaced terra-cotta. New high-rise densities in the urban core prompted a rethinking of urban space, the public and private realms, institutional and commercial uses. Built form drew on social psychology for innovative approaches to handling light and space.

This is the first time that the Brazilian Amazon will be exhibited in Europe from an architectural point of view. Admission is free.
The Amazon under construction is divided into two themes: the "Fantastic Amazon" and the "Concrete Amazon", which unveil not only a vision of breathtaking landscapes and territories but also the integration between them and the
Public space is under pressure – commercialized for economic interests, abused as a playground for event culture, and maneuvered into insignificance through private acts of self-staging. Is its original function as a forum for public life coming to an end? At the same time, there are ever more standards, regulations, and requirements designed to guarantee safety and functionality. Does this reduce the creative possibilities for new architecture to react to the specifics of the location? If so, how are buildings being affected by these processes?
The exhibition “InnenAussen” (InsideOutside) by :mlzd searches for answers to these questions. Their installa-tion, based on
