Dallas Architecture Forum, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing public education about architecture, design and the urban environment, will continue its 2015-2016 Panel Discussion Series on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 with “The Social Impact of Greening the City” moderated by Donald Gatzke, who served as Dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas at Arlington from 2004 through 2014 and is now a Professor at the university on the faculty.

As Seattle grows, how can housing design keep pace with the evolving ways we are living in cities? Is small housing a viable option? Can smaller spaces make for better living? This exhibit by 2015 Emerging Professionals Travel Scholarship Recipient Garrett Reynolds, explores micro-living spaces in dense urban environments in Copenhagen, New York, Stockholm, and Tokyo.
The Urban Housing Forum will examine how housing design and policy can serve as catalyst for livability and quality of place in an increasingly dense city. The full day program will include presentations on innovative projects, regulatory and development strategies and an investigation into housing’s unique and significant role in shaping individual lives, a sense of community and the overall design of a city as well as a panel on “What Will Make Seattle a Model City?”. In addition, our keynote speaker will be David Baker FAIA, LEED AP of David Baker Architects.

Mr. Gehry will join Paul Goldberger, architecture critic and author of Building Art: The Life and Work of Frank Gehry, in conversation with moderator Harry Cooper, curator and head of modern art at the National Gallery of Art.

Platform 8 catalogs a curated selection of work generated in the past year at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design. Alongside final products of design education, Platform 8 places particular emphasis on collecting and documenting the people and artifacts that shape research-driven design practices. Here, design is presented both as process and as a final product. Indexical structure, punctuated with a collection of portraits, presents a comprehensive picture of the school. Platform 8 shows the intention, direction, and passion seen and experienced every day at the GSD.
WOOD WORKS Exhibition provides an exclusive chance to see, touch and evaluate the work of dozens of local artisans.
The first in a series of exhibitions devoted to modern, local Russian wood craftsmanship — WOOD WORKS — will bring together workshops, designers and artisans at the Moscow design cluster ARTPLAY on April 1-3, 2016. The central themes of WOOD WORKS are wood, functionality, design, sustainability, uniqueness and local production. The fair will also feature cultural, educational and musical programs, as well as a craft market and a cafe.
Join the Mattapan Cultural Arts Development (MCAD), Powerful Pathways Consulting, and the BSA Foundation for an interactive community conversation on arts, design, and placemaking. Construct the Future asks how we can apply new perspectives and transform existing structures to provide living alternatives. The exhibition will be across three days in Shoreditch and is hosted by new affordable housing company Native.
Open to the public from the 8th-10th April 2016, Construct the Future will bring together interdisciplinary practitioners from around the world, including established and emerging artists and architects who have something to contribute to the ongoing discourse around alternative living. Exhibited work includes: a wearable refugee shelter; a sustainable living tower inhabited with edible plants and fish; a digitised 3D model that envisions new spatial possibilities; an interactive musical installation for the London Underground; as well as zines, poems, essays, films and illustrations.

Explore architecture and interior design through a three-day hands-on design workshop in which you will create your own micro-housing unit—the new trend in innovative housing.
In this Learning By Design workshop you will have the opportunity to work with professional architects, tour an architecture firm, design and create a 3D model, and present your work to a panel of professionals. This workshop is for teenagers aged 13 to 16; no experience is necessary, but register now, as space is limited.

The Sixth International Conference on Competitions (ICC) has launched with support from the RIBA and the UIA and will take place at Leeds Beckett University from 27 to 29 October 2016. This year will be the first time that the ICC is to be held in the UK.

The BSA Foundation was created by the Boston Society of Architects/AIA to enhance public awareness of the built environment and the processes that shape it. The BSA Foundation Grant Project Pin-Up will connect BSA members with educators, artists and other BSA Foundation grant recipients to discuss recent successes and future options.
